i think post canon living akechi isn't someone who will ever permanently "heal" & will likely struggle for the rest of his life w/ one thing or another. not because he's incapable i just appreciate this sort of realism and think he especially is so fun & tragic to explore

in the fake reality maruki end the description of akechi w ren being "Akechi enjoying a game of chess. As he enjoys his healthy rivalry, there is no trace of darkness in his expression" is sooo amusing like really has got to be the most load bearing use of the word "healthy" ever

big fan of joker x crow knife stuff especially when it's like akira sitting behind akechi pointing the knife at his belly saying this is where i'd insert the knife, this is where i'd cut to, this is how i'd watch your organs fall out... they have fun and play together

on my nth replay of p5r since i first played it ~6 years ago & the thing that strikes me is how absurdly and objectively load bearing akechi's life (& death) is on akira's wellbeing in thirdsem and how intensely the narrative pushes their impossibly, world-breakingly unique bond
