Marginalised writers often feel pressure to write about pain, shame and trauma. Writing about joy can therefore be a radical act of self-preservation and self-expression.
Joy can be mundane. Joy can be fleeting. Joy can be unexpected. Importantly, joy reminds us to be attentive.
Together, we will delve into the ways joy helps us make sense of ourselves and our communities. Inspired by Durga Chew-Bose, Anthea Yang, Danny Soberano and @CalebANelson, we will explore the bittersweet complexities of writing about joy.
