33 years ago today Nirvana recorded the best cover in the history of time. “Where Did You Sleep Last Night” The song is an American folk song with the most well known version performed by Led Belly.

💯 Great illustration. The contrast between capitalism and socialism couldn’t be clearer. The real-world examples speak for themselves.
Want to know the difference between socialism and capitalism? Part II Look at Venezuela and Chile. In 1977, Venezuela was twice as rich as Chile. It sits on the most oil on Earth. Chile chose free markets. Venezuela chose socialism. Today: - Chile is 4x richer per person. - Minimum wage: Chile $545 a month. Venezuela 15 cents. - Inflation: Chile 3.5%. Venezuela 475%. - Chileans live 8 years longer. - Freedom score: Chile 95. Venezuela 13. - Nearly 8 million Venezuelans have fled. Over 700,000 went to Chile. The country with the most oil on the planet can't keep the lights on. Same continent. Same language. Different system. Watch the line. If you're upset that America removed Maduro, ask yourself what side you're really on.

This came to me as negative for malignant cells from the cytotech. These deceptively bland cells are all basically all malignant and BER-EP4 positive. Take a guess about their origin. #boardfodder

Hematologists do not need imaging or clinical history to know the spleen has gone missing. Howell Jolly Bodies [don't confuse with Heinz bodies seen in G6PD deficiencies as those always require supravital staining to see, not routine Wright/Giemsa stains]

Plasma cells are amazing! Their appearance reflects an extraordinary commitment to antibody production: the eccentric nucleus, the abundant cytoplasm filled with rough endoplasmic reticulum, the pale Golgi hof. Features we learn early in training become more interesting as we come to understand what they represent. Some plasma cells persist for decades, producing antibodies against infections we have long forgotten. I find that remarkable. Part of our immunologic history is maintained by these cells, quietly at work in the marrow. In neoplasia, they may retain that familiar appearance while producing a protein capable of causing profound injury. A seemingly mature plasma cell can belong to a clone whose antibodies damage the kidneys, deposit in tissues, or increase blood viscosity. Its appearance alone tells us surprisingly little about the harm it can cause. (Images of plasma cell myeloma and rouleaux) #Hematopathology #Pathology #hemepath #mmsm

Right on @isliquidbiopsy 🙌🏻 Time for change…. We don’t often think about the utility of liquid biopsy (cfDNA) in myeloid malignancies but it certainly has a role, particularly for capturing the molecular heterogeneity of extramedullary disease. Read our recent @BCD_AACR paper here for more on this topic. aacrjournals.org/bloodcancer…
🧬 New in Blood Cancer Discovery: multiomic profiling of myeloid sarcoma reveals distinct extramedullary clonal evolution, transcriptional adaptation, and recurrent RAS pathway activation. Importantly, ctDNA sequencing captured the molecular composition of myeloid sarcoma, supporting a potential noninvasive approach to profiling extramedullary AML. @ManelEsteller @ChristianRolfo @UmbertoMalapel1 @ElJanLe @drgandara @MJOSESERRANO19 @ChristianRolfo @RobertoBoreaMD @ErulEnes @ReduzziCarol @ddemiguelperez @PasqualePisapia @BenBleibergMD @Al3ssandroRusso @ESaldanhaMD @eleonora_nicolo @DrMirallas @LuisRaezMD @DrYukselUrun #LiquidBiopsy #ctDNA #AML #MyeloidSarcoma #ISLB

My advice for the newish interns. Take responsibility. The right mentality, nothing will happen unless I do it. Check everything with the source, patient and raw data (labs, imaging reports etc). Do not trust anyone (sometimes even your attending) and independently verify.

CD markers very simplified! CD34+ = Blast CD3+ = T-cell CD19+ = B-cell CD33+ = Myeloid CD34+ = Acute leukemia (but which type?) CD34+ CD19+ = B-ALL CD34+ CD3+ = T-ALL CD34+ CD33+ = AML CD34- CD33+ = APL (promyelocyte differentiated one step above blast)”
