When John McGlynn won League 1 undefeated against part time football teams, he was lauded by the media. Manager of the year. Reedijk done it against professional football teams and we're being told Mark Wilson is a better candidate.

Kit of the day: Hibernian 1996-98, Mitra Jean-Marc Adjovi-Bocco, known as Jimmy, was born in Cotonou and captained Benin. He played 195 league games for Lens between 1991 and 1997. At 33 he went on trial at Hibernian and Jim Duffy offered him a contract. After his first game, Bocco said he couldn’t understand his team-mates, John Hughes especially. Hibs started well but fell apart quickly. Duffy was sacked in February 1998 and Alex McLeish took over. Hibs finished bottom of the Premier Division and went down. Bocco played 32 games that season without scoring. In the summer he left the club. A year after he left, Lens won their first French title. He later co-founded the Diambars academy in Senegal with Patrick Vieira and Bernard Lama. Mitre was founded as a leather tannery in Huddersfield in 1817. It took the name Mitre in 1949 and supplied the Football League’s match ball from 1976 to 2021.
Kit of the day: Bayern 1998-00 goalkeeper, Adidas On 26 May 1999 Bayern lost the Champions League final in Barcelona to Manchester United in one of the most spectacular endings in the history of the tournament. Oliver Kahn played 49 matches that season as Ottmar Hitzfeld’s Bayern won the Bundesliga. Seventeen days after Barcelona they lost the DFB-Pokal final to Werder Bremen on penalties in Berlin. Kahn saved from Jens Todt, Stefan Effenberg missed, and Werder goalkeeper Frank Rost scored past Kahn himself before saving Lothar Matthäus’s kick. Earlier that spring, on 3 April 1999 at Dortmund, Kahn grabbed Andreas Möller by the ear, flew at Stéphane Chapuisat with a kung-fu jump and pretended to bite Heiko Herrlich in the neck. He was not booked for any of it. He was named the world’s best goalkeeper in 1999, and again in 2001 and 2002. Two years after the Camp Nou, Kahn saved from Zlatko Zahovič and Mauricio Pellegrino in the shootout in Milan, and Bayern won the Champions League.

The Bowler's Rest, Leith 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 1st visit. Honestly sensational. How to take a trad boozer through and through into the present day carefully, respecting the past and introducing the better drinks and events that secure it's future. The best first visit of this week 👍🍻 – at Leeds, England
