The Panchachuli is a monument to unstained, unbridled happiness. Simple jagged lines like what five year-olds often draw to describe a pretty sight; in a way it is a child's most earnest, heartfelt articulation of beauty brought to life.

The trail cooks fuss over the herders, boil tea for them, offer to replenish their rations: sugar, oil, flour. The rains will get uglier and some lambs will slip off slopes and crack their skulls. May the herders come back soon, grinning and bearing gifts of fresh carcasses.
