Alhamdulillah, pleased to share my paper, “Marriage, Menarche, and Agency” has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Development Studies. My interest in women’s empowerment was profoundly shaped by reading the khutba of Hazrat Bibi Zainab (A.S.) in the court of Yazid.

A call to refrain from using AI for reviews: please don’t do this. If journal editors want to do it, they can do so and inform authors. Many are going in that direction. Reviewers however should play their role: be an independent human evaluator. Don’t accept to review otherwise!

Look at the state of this children’s ward at PIMs. Totally gutted. People had to break windows and jump out. Emergency gate was closed, fire equipment not working, medical staff not present.
Terrible tragedy. Criminal negligence all round in this public hospital of the federal capital.
No one has voluntarily resigned. Shameful !
Nayyar Bokhari and I were totally shaken by the state of the children’s side of the hospital.
The federal health ministry should have ceased to exist by now after devolution but no, this is how it limps on claiming more and more public money.

There is no end to stupidity. @Pakistanomy shouldn't post economics reduced to slogans. Being under IMF programs does not mean they've identical fiscal space, tax capacity, debt obligations, demographics, or public spending priorities. IMF membership is not a magic equalizer.

A 7-year study of 3,900 social science papers found that only ~50% could be replicated.
There was significant variation across fields, however.
While more than 60% of political science & econ papers were replicated, only ~25% of sociology & 0% of education papers were.
