If you're a startup raising pre-seed/seed, reach out and I may be able to help. @hyperstitionvc works closely with our alma mater (Harvey Mudd College) to tap into the best mechanical and electrical engineers for our portfolio companies.
The more robotics and manufacturing founders I talk to, the more I realize how scarce electrical engineers seem to be.
As an EE myself, that’s surprising. But after years of talent gravitating toward software, maybe it shouldn’t be.
AI is making code easier to write, but we’re entering an era where we need to build actual machines.
You can vibe code a PCB, but electrical engineering still feels like a much bigger barrier to entry than software.
I think EEs are about to become a lot more valuable.

Ultra robots go from box to operation in less than 5 hours.
This is the aha moment for skeptical buyers of new robotic deployco, and Ultra is crushing at it.
Proud for @hyperstitionvc be a seed investor in Ultra
Robotics has a distribution problem. Today, Ultra is announcing $62M in funding to solve it, including a $50M Series A led by @hiFramework.
We believe that deployment is the bottleneck in robotics.
It’s relatively easy to make a robot look impressive in a controlled environment. It’s much harder to put a robot into the open world, make it useful, keep it running, earn the trust of the people working alongside it, and do that over and over and over again.
So that’s what we’re focusing on.

At @hyperstitionvc we back exceptional founders. And by exceptional i mean
∂V/∂t + 0.5 * sigma^2 * S^2 * (∂²V/∂S²) + r * S * (∂V/∂S) - r * V = 0

Robotics training is moving beyond short-horizon single tasks (e.g. place package in bin) to long-horizon multi-agent games (e.g. dribble against opponent and score in goal).
Simulated environments is the only practical way to scale this next frontier. Case in point, Skild's recent demo of a humanoid playing soccer was post-trained via self-play in 140 years of simulated worlds.
The challenge today is that existing tooling makes it hard to spin up and run realistic simulations. @PalatialSim is solving this, allowing robotics teams to vibe code physics-accurate assets and episodes specific to their training needs. @hyperstitionvc is excited to support them as they take over the (simulated) world.
Introducing Palatial Mad Max, a state-of-the-art parametric generation agent that unlocks scalable Real2Sim for robotics and physical AI.
It's a generalized agent that can create extremely detailed SimReady assets with precise articulated parts and grounded physics properties designed for dexterous manipulation tasks.

At @siggraph 2026 we announced the world’s first SimReady asset agent and today we’re making it publicly available in open beta.
You can now generate and iterate on assets through natural language. Just upload your reference data, tell us your use case and the agent will figure out the best settings.

This kicks off shiptember. We've got a full month of releases lined up!

Think this accurately captures the differentiation that @hyperstitionvc targets against larger VCs:
- for founders: risk appetite for tech at the earliest stage (earlier than what’s comfortable for larger VCs and before a lead arrives)
- for LPs: operators in deep tech that want exposure to others building in deep tech
Many of the great VC firms and solo GPs started out with funds of $10M or less.
These micro VC firms have a risk appetite which is crucial to the industry, and play an important role in seeding risk capital where larger firms cannot.
"Micro VCs play a pivotal role in democratizing access to entrepreneurial finance by allowing ventures to get funding from a new type of investors. Moreover, micro VCs encourage more kinds of limited partners to access the VC industry."
- Micro VC (2022)
Unfortunately, the associated regulatory costs make operating at this scale incredibly difficult in the UK.
Admin and compliance often consumes about $1.4M of a $10M UK fund, versus just $450k in the US.
As a result of this high cost, the median fund size in the US was $20M in 2024, in the UK (with just 3% of the volume) it was $88M.
So, the UK not only has lower total venture capital volume, it also has fewer small funds — the worst of both worlds.
This is a major bottleneck, but there is a fix. If you're interested in hearing more, drop me a DM.

There's a few ways to scale training data for robotics:
- simulations
- egocentric
- teleop
- digital media (games, videos)
- actual deployments
Simulations is very prone to garbage-in-garbage-out and @PalatialSim is solving this. Proud to be an investor via @hyperstitionvc
