We're living in the climate event push alert era. Each heatwave or extreme rain message on your phone is a distance marker as we head into unprecedented conditions. I have this strange compulsion to take screenshots of them all. So I wrote about it: theatlantic.com/science/arch…

Meanwhile, clear footage of Israel leaving premature babies to die in a hospital and countless other atrocities. "If you're not careful, the newspapers will have you hating the people who are being oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." - Malcolm X
🚨Important! Haaretz definitively debunks iconic horror stories from Oct 7: 40 beheaded babies Baby burned in oven A pregnant woman's stomach opened & her fetus removed Children bound together & burned Pregnant hostage giving birth Haaretz says only 1 baby was killed on Oct 7🧵

There's lots of announcements and news coming out of #COP28. I'm here to rank them for you from a climate scientist's perspective, using 🌴 for the wins and 🤦‍♀️ for the facepalms. Did I miss something? Let me know and I'll add it to this list! #ClimateAction #COP28FromHome 🧵

Congress members have called for turning Gaza into a “parking lot” and have sent guns and bombs to help Israel commit genocide against Palestinians. But the only Palestinian member of Congress gets censured.
BREAKING: The House votes 234-188 to censure Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib for “promoting false narratives” about the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel and for her use of the phrase "from the river to the sea," which is considered by some as a call for ending Israel's existence.

USPS, we love to see it!
BREAKING: The American Postal Workers Union has just joined the call for a #CeasefireNOW. It is the first national union in the AFL-CIO to do so.

So you stand by the murders of over 10,000 Palestinians, including over 4,000 children? Is it for "national security" or for your personal investment in weapon manufacturer Boeing Co? Deeply disappointed and disgusted to have you as my representative at this time.
I stand with @POTUS & what I firmly believe to be the majority of my colleagues on both sides of the aisle in supporting the people of Israel & Ukraine as they defend their very existence. As @POTUS said, the survival of these democracies is integral to our own national security.

Powerful interview with Ta-Nehisi Coates.
“You can’t behold evil and then return and not speak on it.” Ta-Nehisi Coates speaks about how an experience in Palestine illuminated the connections between the African American and Palestinian liberation struggles, and the moral responsibility to speak out.

Black as in the tulsi seed, multi medicinal huitlacoche 🌽, the most fertile soils, obsidian mirror, the heart of the fire, the divine & magical unknown
less using black to portray demons and evil more investigating black as a magnetic, powerful source of life. black is an astounding, powerful color… when we are born we only know black and darkness. it’s the first color we see. it’s life!!

To those claiming that climate scientists are perpetrating a hoax to get rich off grant money, let me tell you about fossil fuel subsidies…

Vivek Ramaswamy: I can speak freely about climate change because I'm not "bought and paid for" Also Vivek Ramaswamy: I run a big investment firm dedicating to drilling as much fossil fuels as humanly profitable and I personally have $50 million invested heated.world/p/how-vivek-ram…
I was the only one on stage last night not bought & paid for by Super PACs so I can speak freely. Here’s the TRUTH: the climate disaster death rate has *declined* by 98% over the last century, even as carbon emissions have risen. The average person is 50X less likely to die of a climate-related cause than in 1920. Why? Fossil fuels. An inconvenient truth for the climate cult. The real emergency isn’t climate change, it’s the man-made disaster of climate change policies that threaten U.S. prosperity.

I appreciate articles encouraging masks but wrong to say only “high risk” people 1️⃣ As COVID lingers in the air, masks are much more effective when everyone wears one 2️⃣ Not everyone who is at “high risk” realizes it 3️⃣ Everyone has an increased risk of long term health issues
If you're at high risk of serious illness or death from Covid-19, it's time to dust off those N95 masks. cnn.it/3OL7LbG

The mass migration of people who have nothing will increase as entire regions become uninhabitable. More failed states, decades long droughts, wildfires, ecosystems failure, etc. It’s all going to be hard. Preparing for the long haul means practicing compassionate governance now.

Historic. Ecuadorians voted to keep oil underground in the Yasuní national park in the Amazon, result of over a decade of movement pressure. A climate, enviro & Indigenous victory. And they voted to ban mining in a UNESCO biosphere in the country’s north primicias.ec/noticias/elecci…

How much of the country has to burn, how many thousands evacuated and choking on smoke before our country takes the climate emergency seriously and stops expanding oil, gas and LNG projects and starts focusing on keeping people safe? #cdnpoli

I remember having so much hope Obama would enact progressive climate policy during his presidency 💔
It’s tough to see some of the images coming out of Hawai’i — a place that’s so special to so many of us. Michelle and I are thinking of everyone who has lost a loved one, or whose life has been turned upside down. If you’d like to help, you can do so here. hawaiicommunityfoundation.or…

This image breaks me. At 2.7 degrees of warming, which is our present policy trajectory, two billion people will be exposed to extreme heat. 99.7% of those people live in the global South. People who have done nothing to cause this crisis. The injustice is staggering.
