Happy Diwali, everyone! ๐ชโจ
Today, millions of homes across India and the world light up with diyas, rangoli and the glow of Lakshmi Puja.
May your home be full of warmth and laughter. May your health stay strong, because it's the first real wealth. May your work bring growth, your mind find peace, and may you let go of whatever has been weighing you down and start fresh.
Wishing you and your loved ones a bright, safe and joyful Diwali.
Shubh Deepavali ๐
Apple spent almost nothing on the AI race. Then it posted the best year in its history. ๐
Here's the full breakdown:
The numbers:
โ Fiscal 2026 revenue: $479 billion, a new all-time record
โ iPhone revenue: about $254 billion, up from $210 billion
โ Services: about $123 billion, still growing in double digits
โ And this came while Apple's AI was widely called a disappointment
The 50-to-1 gap:
Amazon, Microsoft, Meta and Alphabet are expected to spend around $650 billion on AI infrastructure in 2026.
Apple's planned spending is about $14 billion.
Its whole year of investment is less than what Amazon spends in a single quarter.
So why was Apple fine?
Because Apple never sold intelligence. It sold the device in your hand.
โ 2.5 billion active devices worldwide
โ Services earns about a 76% gross margin
โ That's roughly 28% of revenue but nearly 44% of gross profit
โ More than $130 billion in cash, so no pressure to rush
The bet underneath;
Reports suggest Apple believes AI models may become commodities. If so, owning the most expensive one isn't an edge. Owning the customer is.
Siri AI is only just arriving:
In January, Apple announced a deal with Google to use Gemini for the new Siri. In June, it showed off Siri AI at WWDC.
Apple didn't build the model. It rented one, wrapped it in its own design and privacy promises, and put it on billions of devices.
The risks are real:
โ It now depends on a competitor for Siri's brain
โ If scale ends up winning in AI, waiting could get expensive
โ Siri was promised in 2024 and took over two years to deliver
The lesson:
When a technology explodes, don't just ask how to build it. Ask which part is actually scarce.
For Apple, it wasn't the model. It was the customer and the trust.
Being first is not the same as winning.
Ramayana Part 1 Review
I grew up hearing Ramayana stories from my grandmother and watching Ramanand Sagar's Ramayana. We watched it on Sundays with family.
Apart from that, I have read a few books. The latest were from Amish Tripathi's Ram Chandra series: Ram: Scion of Ikshvaku, Sita: Warrior of Mithila, Raavan: Enemy of Aryavarta and War of Lanka.
Having read and watched all of these, I had a clear picture of the story in my mind. Now, the movie.
The initial build-up of the characters was impressive, especially the fight that introduces Indra Dev and then leads into the other characters.
Ravana's intense sadhana to earn boons from Brahma ji was shown very well(my friend asked how did he get boon without chanting any mantras)
A few observations on the story and language:
- Ram gets aggressive when he meets Parshuram
- Jatayu exists across different timelines
- Sita Maa fights alongside Ram and Lakshman
Cast and visuals:
The cast is good overall. One miss for me was Sita's face during the Jatayu and Ravana fight. That was an emotional moment and her expressions did not carry it.
The VFX was great. The scale and fight sequences looked grand. The one thing I would improve is the rakshasas. They could have looked more like rakshasas, with a fiercer and more fearsome design.
The background music has done full justice to the story, thanks to the two musical legends.
Comparing it with Ramanand Sagar's version is unfair, because that one is tied to our childhood. This film does not try to replace it. It tells the story for a new generation.
I would say 80 percent is original and 20 percent is modified.
It still keeps the essence of the Ramayana. Go watch it.
Now waiting for Part 2.
MCP Servers
Okay, so AI agents have a connection problem, and MCP is the fix. ๐
I keep seeing people mention it without ever explaining what it actually does. If you're building anything with AI, this is worth ten minutes of your time.
Let me break it down properly ๐งต๐
So why should you care?
โ You write far less custom code, and there's less to maintain later
โ It works across different AI providers, so you aren't tied to one
โ A tool you connect once can be reused in other apps
โ Your agents can reach files, databases, APIs and company tools through one standard way
My advice: before you write a new integration from scratch, check whether an MCP server already exists for that tool. There's a good chance someone has built it already.
Dhanteras is today. Most people think it's only about buying gold. But there's a much deeper story behind it. ๐ช
Here's the full breakdown:
WHAT IS DHANTERAS?
It's the first day of the Diwali festival. The name comes from "Dhan" (wealth) and "Teras" (the 13th day of the dark fortnight in the month of Kartik).
WHO IS WORSHIPPED TODAY?
โ Goddess Lakshmi: wealth and prosperity
โ Lord Kubera: the treasurer of the gods
โ Lord Dhanvantari: the god of Ayurveda and health
THE STORY OF DHANVANTARI
According to tradition, Dhanvantari appeared during the churning of the ocean (Samudra Manthan), carrying a pot of amrit, the nectar of immortality. That's why Dhanteras is also remembered as Dhanvantari Jayanti.
Notice the order: health appeared first, and wealth followed.
WHY DO PEOPLE BUY GOLD, SILVER AND UTENSILS?
Buying metal items today is a symbol of welcoming prosperity into the home. It's about the intention, not the price tag. A small steel utensil or a silver coin carries the same meaning as a big purchase.
THE REAL MESSAGE
We chase wealth all year and forget the one asset that makes everything else possible: our health.
Gold can be bought anytime.
A healthy body and a calm mind can't.
So today, along with a purchase, invest in something small for yourself. A walk. Proper sleep. A phone-free hour with family.
Happy Dhanteras ๐
You don't need to know coding to create an AI agent.
Today there are many no-code tools that let you build one by simply describing what you want.
Here's how to build your first agent with it, step by step ๐งต๐
Step 8: Publish and track
Publish your agent to a channel like Microsoft Teams or your website so people can actually use it.
Then check analytics. Watch what users ask and where the agent fails, and improve it every week.
