Good old Rashid Abdi, still recycling the same tired zero-sum narrative: if Djibouti befriends one partner, it must be abandoning another or might be threatening another.
Sorry to deceive you, #Djibouti remains a loyal, dependable and reliable partner to each and every one, and of course exclusive to none.
And more importantly, Djibouti remains sovereign in shaping its future.
Hellooooo Rashid! catch up!
The world has moved on.
China's military base in Djibouti has been upgraded and transformed into a massive signals intelligence intercept (SIGINT) hub.
The base is now able to intercept and geolocate a wide array of signals of strategic military intelligence value.
This transformation of Djibouti into a crucial Chinese intelligence-gathering node, in part, explains why Western states with military footprints are getting uncomfortable, scouting and moving to other nearby locations.
US military pivot to Somaliland, Puntland and Kenya's Lamu partly linked to this, while the French have significantly reduced their military footprint in the tiny Red Sea state.

The deepening of bilateral relations between NBO and Dj is of paramount importance to advancing regional connectivity, trade, investment, and people-to-people ties across the Horn of Africa. In this spirit, the commitment to finalize a new Bilateral Air Services Agreement is particularly encouraging and, we hope, will create the necessary framework for KQ to resume direct flights to Djibouti.
Paid a courtesy call on Amb. Mohamed Ali Hassan (@MohamedAliHass1) Secretary General for Foreign Affairs of Djibouti. Kenya and Djibouti share a strong commitment to anchoring peace, maritime stability, and multilateral cooperation through IGAD to fill critical gaps in regional development. Our discussions highlighted the strategic imperative of enhancing regional connectivity, digital infrastructure, and trade corridors to drive sustainable economic growth across the Horn of Africa.
Together, Kenya and Djibouti continue to deepen multilateral alignment, foster African Union institutional reform, and create enduring synergies for our people. We agreed to accelerate political consultations on a range of issues and finalize negotiation on a new bilateral air service agreement between Kenya and Djibouti. @ForeignOfficeKE

Congratulations to the delegation of #Togo 🇹🇬 and the Africa Group on the adoption this morning by the #UNGA of resolution A/80/L.104, “Correct the Map.”
First endorsed by the African Union Assembly in February and officially passed at the United Nations today, this @_AfricanUnion initiative marks a historic step toward accurate and equitable global cartographic representation.
For centuries, the Mercator projection distorted global geography, shrinking Africa to the size of Greenland when our continent is actually 14 times larger. Today’s resolution promotes equal-area maps like Equal Earth across classrooms, media, and international institutions ensuring the world map finally reflects Africa’s true scale, weight, and place in the world.
