Whomever wants a war, or claims to need one, should apply these lessons from history and our Constitution: - Define the mission. - Declare/authorize the war. - Fully fund the war. - Multiply allies, not enemies. - Win the war - decisively. - Only then, declare victory. The sequence prevents embarrassing failures. There are no free wars. If you cannot even gain the support to fund a war… If you lack the will or ability to do those things, have the wisdom and humility to either avoid the war with diplomacy or exit swiftly through manuever.
