The sanctions are working! Russia is running out of food in the shops. Thank you von der Leyen and Zelensky.

Another video from Kyiv. A man is grabbed on the street and dragged off by force. He is screaming that they didn’t even look at his documents. This is how Ukrainian men live now. You can be walking, and suddenly you are not a person anymore. Just a body they need. Zelenskyy’s government stopped pretending there are rules. Documents don’t matter, human rights don’t matter either. When the state takes you without even looking at your papers, it is not mobilization. It is hunting. And every man knows that tomorrow he could be the next prey.
What?
Scrap metal — Europe's competitive advantage?
China makes cheap cars and controls rare-earth refining. The US dominates AI and finance.
EU: Not to worry. We can threaten to withhold scrap metal.
Actually, an interesting FT interview with Bernd Lange, chair of the European Parliament’s trade committee. He admits Europe’s serious dependencies on China and the US, urges caution about trade wars — yet refuses to accept that Europeans might choose cheaper Chinese cars.

Very interesting video where Eric Li dismantles some western critics pushing propganda...
Some highlights;
- Government legitimacy depends entirely on delivering tangible results for the majority of its citizens [05:26].
- Taiwan shares a historical aspiration for national reunification, noting that its own constitution indicates it is part of China [03:16].
- Western liberal elites risk complacency and eventual failure by taking their political legitimacy for granted [06:24].
- China's rapid modernization and global rise have occurred entirely without colonization, bloodshed, or firing a single shot [14:00].
- Humanity has moved far beyond the historical era where any single superpower can successfully dominate the globe [12:27].
- China has successfully and peacefully resolved land border disputes with 14 out of its 16 neighboring countries over the past seven decades [17:22]

EU capital as usual.
I feel so sad. That is my dear Brussels, the capital of the EU.
There is a silent war unfolding in Europe, and we need to recognise it.
No “EU house plan”, financial support for electricity bills, or any other isolated measure will be enough to save the EU if its leaders continue to ignore what is happening on the ground.
Please, @vonderleyen @eucopresident take a step back. Look at what is happening in our countries and how the EU is being manipulated from all directions.
Because I travel so much, I see the reality on the ground. People are losing their jobs. They are being fired. And honestly, even during communism, I never saw so many people searching through rubbish bins for things to survive as I do today. Look at the statistics.

Six people were convicted of the murder of journalist Anna Politkovskaya in Moscow.
They received sentences ranging from eleven years to life imprisonment.
No one has been convicted of the murder of journalist and writer Oles Buzina in Kyiv.
The two killers were simply let out of the courthouse.
How fucking great it is to shed tears over Politkovskaya just because she was killed in Russia, and how fucking convenient it is to forget about the people who were killed in Ukraine.

Almost all citizen of the global South, including in the dictatorship of Russia, China, Iran, etc envy our political system that produces, an even rewards, people with extraordinary intellectual capabilities, long-term vision, and extreme knowledge of economics, geography, geopolitics, and international relation
The leaders of European Union and of many member states are the envy of the whole world who desperately wishes their countries to have leaders of similar standing
Here a small sample of their outstanding qualities
The President of the European Commission — ten years in office, ten years of calamity — tells us that Russians steal washing machines because they desperately need the semiconductors inside them. My Chinese friends had one rather obvious question: “How come they don’t have semiconductors? We’re selling them plenty. What are they doing with them, throwing them away?”
The European Commissioner for Competition from 2019 to 2024 invited us to tell our children to take cold showers — and, while standing under the cold water, to give Putin the finger in order to help Ukraine win the war. European strategic thinking at its finest.
Then we have Kaja Kallas, the European Union’s foreign-policy chief — “foreign minister,” so to speak — entertaining the idea of breaking Russia up into a collection of smaller states, which would presumably make them rather easier for us to control. Nothing says “respect for sovereignty” quite like deciding how many countries somebody else’s country ought to become.
The Prime Minister of Poland — a country still apparently trying to decide whether it dislikes Russians, Germans or Ukrainians most — says that instead of prosecuting the people responsible for blowing up Europe’s largest energy infrastructure, we should regard those who built it as the real criminals. An innovative development in criminal law: don’t prosecute whoever blows up the pipeline; prosecute whoever built it.
The Italian Foreign Minister, whose principal contribution to foreign policy over the past four years could perhaps have been achieved by hanging a map of Russia on his office wall, appears to believe that the Russian Federation shares a border with Afghanistan — a border that terrorists conveniently cross at night. A small geographical problem: that border does not exist.
Then there is Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who sits down to dinner with Xi Jinping and tells us she ate “spaghetti in broth.” In China. With Xi Jinping. I would genuinely like to know what the Chinese interpreters did with that one.
And finally — I almost forgot — Mario Draghi, with an equation presumably produced after exhaustive economic modeling, geopolitical analysis and impact assessment, which he himself managed to summarize rather elegantly: if we stop buying Russian gas, we will have peace.
I have serious difficulties to understand this kind of double standards. Naively I was assuming that Swedish people are to intelligent and honest not to do it.
Tyvärr. Jag är besviken på honom.
What is happening in Finland? Is this true?
