Background subagents in Claude Code now use less of your usage limit. A running subagent updates its status line every 30 seconds, and each update used to re-read its whole conversation. Now Haiku 5.5 writes it from short notes instead, so each update costs about 99% less.

zkSNARK for the proof of work
New Anthropic research: progress on provable inference for large language models. Here, we introduce FlashProve. Building on established cryptographic techniques, FlashProve allows developers to verify whether a given response came from a given AI model. It’s substantially more efficient than prior open-source methods for doing so. These proofs have a range of applications. They can, for instance, make it harder for attackers to hijack a chat, or enable safety evaluators to verify that the model they’re testing is the same one being served to customers. For our full write-up, see here: anthropic.com/research/prova… Further progress in provable inference will likely be an important part of improving trust in AI deployment. To that end, we're open-sourcing FlashProve’s code, here: github.com/anthropics/FlashP… We’re grateful to our collaborators: Alessandro Chiesa, @GiacomoFenzi, @gwberg95, @miranda__christ, Rahul Dalal (rdalal.github.io) and Ben Mayer (@transmissions11).

Kaze-no-michi, the video game that started out as a one-prompt-shot project, has finally received some updates from me: - dynamic weather: rain, thunderstorms, fog - a new city, with NPCs, details, and guards - save points scattered across the map - improvements to the water and its physics Kaze runs in your browser, features several graphics modes, and includes a 2km x 2km map with animals, weather effects, and much more. It’s an experiment in what’s possible with Claude Code, and I’ll soon be writing an article on how I built it and how you can build one yourself here: t.me/stocasticparrot Try it now: kaze-no-michi-xi.vercel.app/

Imagine an anonymous developer bringing together 40 years of technology and research, then sending a white paper to a mailing list on October 31, 2008, outlining his idea for peer-to-peer digital money. He puts together proof of work, ECDSA, SHA-256, Merkle trees, a consensus mechanism, and game theory to solve the Byzantine Generals Problem, which had remained unsolved for 27 years. Pornographically speaking, it does some other pretty exciting things too: like recalibrating mining difficulty every 2,016 blocks, regardless of changes in computing power. A mechanism of breathtaking elegance. Then he takes this slow, expensive thing called blockchain and makes it useful. But more importantly, he embeds a political message aimed directly at institutions and governments, right there in the genesis block. He separates money from the state, makes censorship resistance possible, puts rules above rulers, and gives sovereignty back to the individual. Bitcoin is probably the greatest open-source experiment in history. A lesson in the importance of verification: don’t trust, verify. It’s the biggest revolution since the wheel and the Internet. The most important convergence of mathematics, economics, philosophy, politics, and game theory. It introduced a new social order where governance is decentralized, with no CEO and no central coordinator. It transformed trust from a human weakness into individual sovereignty. And after all that, its creator walked away from everything and simply “moved on”, disappearing without a trace. Fucking legend. Happy Birthday, Bitcoin.

Fucking legend. Buon compleanno, Bitcoin.
