Nice article on recent developments on Net9-S here. Did you know the "S" stands for "scaled"? Gareth teases out the approach to scaled testing of marine structures technology, something pioneered in marine energy developments. fishfarmingexpert.com/impact…
Check out the latest updates on our Net9-S demonstration fish pen design which aims to address the safety, fish welfare and cost competitiveness challenges associated with bringing aquaculture into open ocean environments.

Replying to @impactnine
@Impactnine has refined its concept specification for a fish pen of 90 m diameter and 125,000 m3 in volume, which is able to produce 3,000 tonnes of salmon in every 12 month grow-out cycle.

We agree of course and are watching with great interest the dialogue in the USA on this issue. Fish farming currently needs fjords. We are working to change that, whether its for salmon or warm-water fish. impact-9.com/technology

Renewable energy could transform offshore aquaculture, but what about … costs, extreme geographies, intermittency, unfavorable weather and other challenges? | Bonnie Waycott @risingbubbles takes a look:

Already? But we are just getting started? These in-fjord licences could fetch NOK 1.2 bn (€120m) at auction. Was Ocean Farm 1 just a profitable experiment? Was it really about solving *competitive offshore* aquaculture?

Offshore petroleum competencies, marshaled by inshore salmon interests wont solve this. Bring on the disrupters.

UPDATE: Salmon Business now reporting that the converted licences result in a paper gain of €142 million, compared to the €90 million cost of Ocean Farm 1.
