Just had a look at the newly pedestrianised Oxford Street. The selfish and anti-social petrolheads can do one, this is the future. Might even do my Christmas shopping here this year 👍

The Brits ran the show mate. They were everywhere. You never knew because the press couldn't sell papers saying: "the UK won the toy directive today". Better to play the narcissistic victim. Cue the clown Boris Johnson. Who from here in Brussels, professionally lied. Fear works. As we know. We were had.
So, you agree that the member states have to apply and can’t modify. Thanks.

Perhaps this gives some context to why Wetherspoon in Gosport was reluctant to admit people following Sunday’s protest. Apparently, the story wasn’t quite as simple as “veterans banned for wearing poppies”.

Bridge is such a patriot he wears a £6.99 poppy pin made in China by a Chinese company, where not a penny goes to veterans!!!

The hardline ethno-obsessives would repatriate these young lads to God-knows-where. I think we should embrace and applaud them. (And, thankfully, I think most British people would agree.)

A local Gurkha family take over empty premises to open a shop and invite Shrewsbury's Mayor along to do the honours. The response from the local branch of the Reform Party? A slew of racial slurs. Excellent response from the local Lib Dems. shropshirestar.com/news/refo…

I wasn’t expecting walking down the middle of the newly pedestrianised Oxford Street to feel so lovely (never a word I’ve used for Oxford St before!). It instantly feels like something that should have been done years ago. Well done, @MayorofLondon, for finally getting it done.

The UK's most historic grassroots arts street in Birmingham is a car infested dump. The first thing thousands see each day when they arrive into Birmingham via New St. Station That is the choice Birmingham civic leaders make when they refuse to CPO our decaying civic treasures

You can always tell when something in Britain has been pedestrianised because the chat swaps from “if those feckless disabled scroungers can walk to the kitchen, they can get a job” to “what of the poor, ailing disabled who need to be driven directly to the shop doorstep?”
Apparently if you are a plumber or a painter you won't be able to go shopping in Oxford Street anymore.

Cllr Sam Jourent has resigned of leader at Essex County Council and Cllr Martin Murray has resigned of leader at Staffordshire Two Reform council leaders stepping down within 24 hours. Farage cannot control his own party. It's in a steep free fall with no pilot.
BREAKING Reform UK's Martin Murray has resigned as leader of Staffordshire County Council and leader of its Reform UK group. In a statement, he says he's made the "difficult decision" after careful consideration, insisting it is in the best interests of Staffordshire.

Not a very knowledgeable cabdriver who doesn't know there are entrances to John Lewis on Henrietta Place and Holles St; and entrances to Selfridges on Duke St, Edwards Mews and Orchard St. There are also taxi ranks.

I’m a cabdriver in London and 3 times this morning passengers have asked me to take them to Selfridges and John Lewis. I say I can’t get them there, they say is it a demo, I say no it’s closed permanently. They decide to go Harrods instead. Business killer.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Taxis cannot drive along the new pedestrianised section of Oxford Street but dedicated ranks on side streets (e.g. Orchard St/Duke St by Selfridges, Holles St by John Lewis) allow drop-offs within ~100m of the stores. tfl.gov.uk/status-updates… tfl.gov.uk/oxford-street londoncorporatecabs.com/news/oxford-st…

John Cleese has reposted another far-right account that is spreading lies and misinformation The photo shows the late William Murray, a dementia patient who sustained these facial injuries from a fall in a Milton Keynes NHS unit in 2019, not a recent of an assault in Dundee

Another one bites the dust. What we need to know is what scandal is about to engulf Mr. Murray here 😂😂😂
Following careful consideration, I have concluded that it is in the best interests of Staffordshire, our residents and this County Council for me to step down as Leader of Staffordshire County Council and Leader of the Reform UK Group. This was a difficult decision, but the interests of Staffordshire, the Council and those we serve must come first. I do so with a clear conscience and immense pride in what we achieved together. During my time as Leader, we delivered a balanced budget, protected frontline services, secured significant investment in highways, children's services and community facilities, and provided stability through one of the most challenging periods in the County Council's recent history. I am particularly proud of the work undertaken to strengthen Staffordshire's identity, confidence and economic ambition. Through supporting investment, promoting county pride, strengthening skills and employment opportunities, and backing our tourism and leisure sectors, I sought to help unlock Staffordshire's potential and create opportunities for future generations. Whether supporting major investment, protecting Staffordshire County Farms or advocating for local businesses on the national stage, my focus was always on ensuring Staffordshire remained a county where businesses could invest, communities could thrive and residents could succeed. Staffordshire is home to some of our country's most successful global businesses and institutions, including JCB, Indurent, JLR, Finning, Keele University and Keele University Science and Innovation Park, alongside thousands of small businesses, from farm shops to engineering firms, from global manufacturers to hospitality venues and family-run enterprises. They are a reminder that Staffordshire remains one of the great manufacturing heartlands of Great Britain and a county with enormous potential for the future. I am equally proud of the work I started to raise the profile of Staffordshire's tourism, leisure and hospitality sectors. With the likes of Alton Towers, Drayton Manor, Trentham Estate and Cannock Chase, together with the thousands of hotels, spas, glamping sites, restaurants, event venues and award-winning pubs that welcome visitors every year, Staffordshire has an offer few counties can rival. I have long believed that our county should be recognised not only as a centre of industry and innovation, but also as a destination where people come to relax, explore and create lasting memories. That is why we branded Staffordshire as The Nation's Playground. I have always believed Staffordshire deserved a stronger voice and greater recognition, and that's why I called Staffordshire: The Beating Heart of the Country. It has been a privilege to serve the people of Staffordshire and to work alongside dedicated councillors, officers, businesses, community organisations and residents. While my time as Leader has come to an end, my commitment to Staffordshire and the people of Cannock remains unchanged. I do wish the Council and its new leadership every success in the years ahead. Martin Murray Staffordshire County Councillor for Cannock Town
