Duo-Man offers the complete walkman experience on the iPhone Duo. Open the Duo to pick and 'insert' the cassette, Close the Duo to start listening. Yes, I actually recorded the button clicks and static noise from a real Walkman! It was fun making this at @bitrig hacks today.

Vercel will be officially sponsoring tailwindcss.com. That's a given. We as a community and industry owe @adamwathan and team a lot. Tailwind is foundational web infrastructure at this point (it fixed CSS 😉). I've also reached out to Adam to explore how we can make this a longer-term commitment.

Claude can code- but can claude grow?! 🪴 So far the answer is YES. Claude is successfully keeping a living organism ALIVE. There were some hiccups this week! Some errors and resets, but Claude managed to power through and take care of Sol 🍅 A week in review:

Heavily inspired by @jh3yy's product state-aware cards, but applied to architecture. Had some fun with Claude + NanoBanana Pro creating building maquettes with different lighting states All generated just from a couple of photos from different angles 🤯

Been meaning to try this fun hack for a while. Tracking aircraft by decoding radio ADS-B directly in the browser via WebUSB. HUGE kudos to @devdevcharlie for her work on the JS Aircraft Radar, on which this is built 🙏💜 Got an SDR dongle? Give it a go: deepcobalt.com/labs/sdr-airc…

Generative AI is cool and all, but procedural 3D modeling just hits different. Check out this Houdini setup by Pepe Buendia. Why this is cool: Instead of manually placing every building and car, this system generates an NYC-style city that builds itself -- automatically spawning buildings with unique variations, plus a traffic system where cars actually obey traffic lights and avoid crashing into each other (all orchestrated through houdini VEX code). Each car knows exactly which road it's on and makes real-time decisions about navigation. The whole thing runs on custom algorithms that handle everything from road directions to building placement. If you did this with generative AI, even approaches to conditioning and taming the chaos -- you'd still get a ton of variance which might be an issue for visual and spatial consistency. To me this is procedural modeling at its finest - precise control meets infinite scalability. Immensely useful for media & entertainment, but also synthetic training data for robotics and augmented reality. I of course can't wait until multimodal LLMs to have the spatial understanding to write these kind of controllable 3D worlds for us. Claude counting 2D pixels on a screen is a step in this direction. Soon they'll be able to manipulate 2D ortho viewports, and eventually spawn procedural 3D worlds.

It’s the small things, but as a left-hander, the ability to finally get rid of the Torch button on the Lock Screen in #iOS18 should be the end of those “your torch light is on, again” moments 🙈

this got talked about a lot when I worked on google maps. I would personally love this feature, and it’s technically feasible. here’s why I fought it loudly every time it came up 🧵
Google maps needs a feature for the nicest way instead of the fastest
