Never ko talaga nagustuhan ang “cremation” kasi literal na binura ka sa mundo instantly. Like binura ka sa mundo tapos dinelete ka rin sa Recently Deleted kasi di na sya recoverable. Memorization has an unfairly negative reputation. I recently spent a few hours memorizing the names of all the countries in the world and it's such a clear improvement in how well I can understand and reason about other topics. Memorization is scaffolding for more complex ideas

i've complained to a few college profs recently that their classes involve too much memorisation. dates, maps etc that feel irrelevant after the exam this is the first argument that's actually made me reconsider. i wish my profs had pitched it like this. if more people saw it this way they'd stop writing off memorising as busywork
