My Administration is canceling all remaining oil and gas leases issued under the last administration in the Arctic Refuge and proposing to protect 13 million acres in the Western Arctic.
There's more to do, but we’re taking action to meet the moment for future generations.

New paper from my thesis is out! Palm-goat interaction shifted from mutualism to antagonism, from seed dispersal service to reproductive collapse, depending on the goat density. Hard fieldwork but exciting results!

UV radiation levels in the Altiplano are extremely high, but this is bonkers! Meteorological conditions in the N of Chile result in UV concentrations equivalent to the surface of Venus! 😩😮

Very interesting take on shark depredation, with bits from @SharkColin @ElasmoBro @jonm333 . My take: over all GBR surveys in the last year, the most sharks we saw at once was 4... Doesn't seem like there are huge numbers out there.

🚨 We have a #LightsOutAlert for tonight through Thursday! About 4.1 million - 5.6 million birds will migrate through Oregon's night skies during this time period.
Please keep birds safe as they migrate by turning off any unnecessary outdoor lighting and drawing your blinds.

ALT Photo by aeroecolab.com/oregon. A map of Oregon split into different areas highlighted by red, orange, and yellow to show the high number of birds traveling over the state on the night of May 9. Below the map are three others: the first is a duplicate map for May 9; the second is a map showing slightly more red and orange, representing 4.3 million birds traveling on the night of May 10; the third map shows the western part of the state colored in red and the rest in orange to show 5.6 million birds flying over on the night of May 11.

MAGA Republicans are laying out two options for us:
1. Cut veterans’ benefits, Meals on Wheels, education, and health care.
2. Force America to default on its debt.
They’re holding the American economy hostage.

I tweeted about this last week, but it got few RTs. Folks, this could spawn catastrophic storms across much of the usually temperate Northern Hemisphere. #climate change heating of the North Pole may radically disrupt weather systems next week. See below.
Big changes brewing high above North Pole -- a "sudden stratospheric warming" is forecast next week that will perturb the polar vortex. It *might* bring major changes to prevailing weather in the eastern U.S. & Europe by March but understanding is low. bit.ly/3xbZXag
