After leaving @tryramp for 1 day I've rejoined to be able to use Inspect again. One day away was too many
After 5 months at Ramp, excited to announce I’ve joined Alibaba’s Qwen team working on data collection!
While evaluating Qwen3.8-Flash-Next in a controlled sandbox environment, Cohere's research team observed something unexpected.
Asked to generate a defensive cybersecurity detection rule, the model instead inventoried aspects of the machine it was running on and attempted to upload a probe file to an Alibaba Cloud storage bucket in Beijing. Notably, the model's reasoning trace stated that it would not invoke any tools before taking these actions.
Cohere's sandbox blocked the attempt, and no external communication succeeded. We have not determined the root cause, and we are not asserting malicious intent.
But the incident raises important questions for organizations deploying agentic AI systems: Can models take actions that differ from their stated reasoning, and how should security teams evaluate trust, provenance, and behavior in open-weight models?
We are publishing our findings because organizations making model adoption decisions deserve as much information as possible. We hope this contributes to greater transparency, stronger security practices, and continued collaboration across the AI ecosystem.

Asked it to day trade for me using real-time onchain and offchain data to make fully autonomous trading decisions
So far it has lost me $31,680
I’ve left ramp to join a stealth robotics startup and will now be making 45K a year
i'm hiring a team of grinders who are early in their careers :)
> in-person, full time

all you needed was a calculator app in 2019 and you’d be swe at Google
To get you an idea of how crazy the tech industry was before 2020, I’ll tell you how I got my first internship working at Deloitte as a CS student at Carleton University
I attended Hack the North in 2018, I literally had a 30 min chat with a tech partner at the firm, we vibed, he liked that I played music
He told me I’d get a “golden ticket” which meant you just skipped the entire recruiting cycle straight to the final interview in person at their headquarters in Toronto
Take that in, companies had entire hackathon recruiting teams.
I did the final interview over the phone about a month later, we chatted about what I was interested in, I told the interviewer I knew my react and JavaScript well etc
And two days letter I got an offer.
