Two months later than everyone else I'm switching off @travisci but not because I care about their lil security blunder but because they don't give a shit about opensource anymore. I'm terribly lazy but this puts the nail in the coffin.

I'd rather wait 5 minutes to start or cancel a build on github actions than wait a month on stupid support requests to "add credits" or whatever is that bullshit.

Is there any tool to convert/publish your restructuredtext release notes to github releases?
Isn't there no tool or lib that can give me an overview of what's running/waiting in an asyncio app?

Just had a lovely conversation about #pytest and other #python topics with @ossronny, @ionelmc, and others during the open chatter session in the PyTest discord community. I've learned a lot just by listening to them talk about the pytest internals.

pytest-cov 2.9.0 is out today, the best day to have your CI broken by missing version pins. See pytest-cov.readthedocs.io/en… - Append mode is fixed and cwd problem should be gone now.

We certainly saw a couple of these at Gorgias. Good post and I also recommend PostgreSQL despite its flaws. At least they are well known and understood. medium.com/@rbranson/10-thin…

Having trouble with code quality? Write a lot of tests. And I mean a *lot*. Test every file in isolation. Mock as many imports as possible. When you're done, your code will still be bad, but now your tests will make sure it's impossible to improve anything in any meaningful way.

There's still no way to load fallback webfonts without FOUT in 2020 (eg: you want a local Candara but if it ain't installed you fallback to say, Rosario which is the closest free alt webfont). But there's a way to make browsers consistently FOUT using font-display:swap. Yay!

There is font-display:block to avoid FOUT but it has an extremely short timeout. For all intents and purposes it will only work for already cached webfonts. No, typekit/webfontloader doesn't have a way to specify "Rosario is a fallback, don't load if Candara is available locally"
Looks like the new virtualenv 20.0.0b1 is a complete rewrite. It's way more complex than the rewrite I tried to do 4 years ago - it has a ep plugin system with a fancier class system and a brand new site.py shim with less deps. Lets hope there isn't bus factor.
