What a day for our Year 11 pupils ✨
Ipswich High School is celebrating an excellent set of GCSE results, with a continued three-year upward trend in individual pupil Value Added and particularly strong performances in Latin, Classics, French, Spanish, Art, Food Studies and History. In English, 90% of pupils achieved Grade 5 or above. This follows particularly strong English A Level results too, with some of the top results in the country.
There were some exceptional individual achievements too. Three pupils all achieved seven grade 9s as part of their results, alongside many more successes across the year group.
But Results Day is about more than the numbers on a page. Every pupil has a different story, different strengths and a different path ahead. Today is about celebrating the effort that got them here, the confidence they have gained, the friendships and IHS memories they will take with them, and being proud of just how far they have come.
Head Dan Browning said: “What makes me particularly proud is seeing how much these pupils have grown - academically, personally and in confidence. Today is about being proud of how far they have come and excited about what comes next.”
Grit. Confidence. Success. Effort.
Sixth form is ready for you.
Congratulations, Year 11. We are incredibly proud of you.

#TBT to Sports Day in 1952! 🏃♀️🏃♂️
As our Senior School Sports Day takes place today, it's safe to say the events may be the same, but the kit has come a long way since the 1950s!
Good luck to everyone competing today. 👊
We are delighted to share that Ipswich High School has been named “Independent Day and Boarding School of the Year - Suffolk” and has also received the National Award for “Academic Excellence 2026”.
This double recognition celebrates the hard work, ambition and talent of our pupils, supported by our exceptional staff, parents, governors and wider school community.

From excellent academic outcomes and personalised pastoral care to our broad co-curricular programme and thriving boarding provision, this recognition reflects the strength of Ipswich High School life.
A proud moment for our whole IHS school community.

IHS Year 6 pupil, Rasmus, recently took part in the Year 7 and Year 8 Junior Mathematical Challenge and has been awarded a Gold Certificate! This is a remarkable accomplishment, particularly as he completed the paper a year early. Gold Certificates are typically awarded to the top 8% of participants nationally.
Well done Rasmus; we are all very proud of you.
A huge thank you to all families and children for attending our Step Into Year 7 2027 event. It was a pleasure to welcome familiar faces from the IHS community and meet many new families considering their next educational journey with us.
Among the activities on offer, pupils enjoyed creating the famous Elephant's Toothpaste experiment in our Chemistry Lab, producing an impressive eruption of foam while exploring chemical reactions and experiencing hands-on learning.
We hope you enjoyed the morning as much as we did, and we look forward to seeing you again soon. #StepIntoYear7 #IHSCommunity #STEMEducation #ChemistryInAction #FutureScientists

#TBT to when His Majesty King Charles III, then The Prince of Wales, visited Jimmy’s Farm with our pupils. Here he is with some of our Prep School children. Does anyone remember the year?
Tunnock's Teacake Challenge!
The theme for this year's competition was ‘Around the World in a Bite’. Pupils were given the opportunity to create a design based on this theme using one Tunnock teacake and a selection of standard ingredients (melted white chocolate, food dye, crushed biscuits, icing sugar and some strawberries). Pupils could bring in two additional items from home. After much deliberation, eight successful entries were invited to create their designs in 50 minutes.
A huge well done to our winners:
1st Place: Sol (Year 8) for an impressive French-inspired design featuring detailed chocolate work and cocoa stencilling.
2nd Place: Lucas (Year 8) for a colourful travel-inspired creation with excellent presentation and texture.
3rd Place: Kayla (Year 7) for a creative cityscape design complete with fondant aeroplane and lettering.
Well done to everyone who participated, and thank you to Mr Speakman and Mrs Chandler Mears for judging. #TunnocksTeacakeChallenge #IpswichHighSchool #AroundTheWorldInABite #FoodTechnology
