It's probably not the end of the game console as we know it, but it is the end of exclusivity. Consumers have found a permanent way around it. The consoles of the future will not be platforms for exclusive games, but rather direct competitors to the Steam Deck, the ROG Ally, and desktop PCs, running Windows or (more likely) some flavor of Linux, perhaps SteamOS itself.
It is the only way Nintendo and PlayStation are going to survive.
XBOX, for what it's worth, seems to have already at least partially embraced the trend with its XBOX Labs initiative, but it also needs to recognize there will be no more XBOX exclusives either.
The alternative, should you choose to go to war with your consumers, is a steady decline. You will start bleeding customers, your stocks will crater as your earnings estimates are revised downward.
You can either sell your games on a universal platform, or be left to rot as consumers put them on a universal platform for free.
This is your future, and it's coming faster than any of you realize.
