In the past 30 days @CantonNetwork burned 431M $CC (~$51M in fees), all on the Global Synchronizer. Dedicated synchronizers burned none.
CIP-0129 by @ShaulKfir and @Bc1pxxx, approved by Super Validators yesterday, will put all synchronizers on one burn model.
How it will work 🧵
At $60/MB a transaction costs about $1, which prices out payments and trading at scale. Dedicated synchronizers will therefore get their own pricing on top of the list price.
The rate per MB will fall as sustained throughput grows. Operators can also commit to a year or more of throughput, backed by CC collateral, and get three extra discounts: for committing, for posting more collateral, and for each year the commitment stays in place.
The Global Synchronizer will keep a single price.
Universal Burn is targeted for Q1 2027, volume pricing and commitment discounts for Q3 2027, once a follow-up CIP sets the exact numbers. Issuance and the reward split stay unchanged.
