Sam Altman looks like he's worried he's going to get caught doing something he knows he shouldn't be doing in almost every photograph I've of him. What is it, Sam? What did you do? WHAT DID YOU DO??
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman says it’s “quite terrible” that people have so much DRAM sitting in their own PCs instead of being used in data centers. “Everyone have a bunch of the world’s limited supply of DRAM sitting in their own computer. And be used 5% of the time,” He argues that cloud data centers should make better use of limited memory supplies instead of people running AI models locally.

Chef's kiss.
Tim Sweeney complains about Valve so much. I think he should make a game purchasing platform, really put his money where his mouth is and show the fat man how it's done.
35
At this stage of the game, I am more interested in seeing a "Made with Unreal Engine" tag requirement on Steam than "Made with AI"

So this is @TimSweenyEpic using politically charged rhetoric to sway your opinion about whether or not Steam should require developers to disclose use of AI in a game's development. Apparently he believes allowing you to make informed choices is anti-consumer. What a clown 🤡
Let’s explore that idea. Say there is a large contingent of gamers that don’t like democrats or, equivalently, republicans. Should Valve force developers to list their political affiliation? Is that pro-consumer? Do you think that policy would have a positive effect on gaming?

Big fan of being able to disable stupid skins in Call of Duty, all the Fortnite styled nonsense that's been plaguing the game for years going *poof* with a toggle? Yes please! Now bring COD to Linux and I just might come back!

Today, I discovered that I do not like peanut butter and banana in my coffee, and that adding a bit of chocolate does not improve the flavor profile as I had hoped. I tell you this to save you the unfortunate waste of a perfectly good cup of coffee should you become curious. ☕

Hot Take: Saying "Ahh" to circumvent an in-game chat filter's censorship of "Ass" is rather silly. Takes all of the bite out of anything you're trying to say. It sounds infantile. Total aura loss.

A relatively popular Twitch Browser Extension exposed 30,000 users' OAuth tokens to a Russian bot service. According to Socket's Threat Research Team, users downloaded it as it promised to block Twitch ads, force 1080p, and auto-collect channel points. Users: Remove the extension from Chrome/Firefox, then disconnect all sessions and reauthenticate. More details linked below.

Twitch and Amazon are being sued in a class action over claims that the tech companies harvest creators' video streams without permission or compensation to train Amazon's generative AI program. Story: courthousenews.com/online-st…

An interesting point. And what about reaction streams? If someone opts-out of AI training, but someone else reacts to that person's content on their stream with AI training enabled? Or simply plays a clip as many people do with shoutouts?
Hot take? Twitch should add a warning when entering a stream that has enabled the use of Gen AI training. I’m not sure how it works, but I’ve seen some speculation on here that even if you’ve disabled it on your end, that your chat messages in an AI-enabled stream can be used?

The illusion of choice is no choice at all. Translation: "We know you would never let us do this, so we're not going to ask, but we're going to let you opt out after we already scraped your existing data and pretend we gave you a choice. Everyone else is doing it anyway!"
Twitch isn't making Gen AI training *opt-in* because no one would voluntarily choose to opt in. Instead, they are offering an opt-out option.

It gets worse.
Twitch isn't sure whether Amazon has used Twitch creator VODs prior to today to train its AI models. The opt-out will apply to your previous and future content, so it will not be used to train future models.

This should only ever be Opt-In. You know damned well people aren't going to see your X post and you're counting on that to get as much training data as possible. Informed consent requires being informed. This is unethical and you goddamned well know it, @TwitchSupport/@Twitch.
We've added a setting that lets you opt out of having your channel content used to train generative AI content models across Amazon. Click here to learn more: link.twitch.tv/TwitchAccount…
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Important Context: Opting out will not prevent your data being used if you chat on someone else's stream and they left this setting at the default. help.twitch.tv/s/article/twit… "If you chat on someone else's stream, their opt-out preferences govern if that chat can be used for training."
