Excellent story about black residents in Mississippi dismayed by Trump - and striking how few of these voices usually get aired in comparison to those of Trump devotees. washingtonpost.com/politics/…

Sorry you didn’t get TIME’s “Person of the Year”, @realDonaldTrump, but at least some of your accusers did! nitter.gq/NPR/status/93838781349…

I would say that I pray for that day by sometimes it seems as if God is only on the side of conservatives and old men.
And instead of writing this paper, all I can get in words is how much I dread the years to come. Will I be able to support my family? Will I have a day where I take a weekend for granted? Will I ever be able to look my parents in the eye and say “No, let me buy your dinner?”
And I sit and I think about these things and how hopeless it feels and about the lies I now help tell the undergrads. “Just graduate! Things will be okay! You’ll find a job! You’ll settle down with a house and 2.45 kids you can definitely afford!”
I sit and stare at my laptop and all I can think about is the mounds of debt I’ll never escape despite not having had a single day off in two months and how there’s an idiot with a rich daddy running our country who wants to put me even more in debt.

Under the GOP tax plan, a graduate student who is paid $33,000 per year and also receives a tuition waiver of $50,000 will be forced to pay taxes on the entire $83,000. This will make it nearly impossible for many graduate students to survive.
