There’s iconic then there’s Michael Jackson. Even his impersonators have more motion than most 😅

The first discipline at IRAS is sight. This applies to artist and company. Perception comes before action, because perception creates awareness. Awareness then requires responsibility. “Once you’re aware, you’re responsible”. That’s the standard. theiras.com

In 1997, a developer publicly told Steve Jobs he had no idea what he was talking about. Jobs paused and answered with the most important business lesson ever delivered under pressure. Bookmark & watch today, no matter what.

if everybody is forced to become a independent contractor and an entrepreneur by force, there's no small business. it's just all business.

Yall thinking the same artists that don’t even wanna post more than twice to promote their own songs about to somehow acquire the business acumen to source people and pay them to do the work of a label is comical lol

Blessed to be building the next layer of IRAS alongside some of the music industry’s biggest tech founders.

Everybody wants a developed artist. Who’s budgeting for the years it takes to develop one? Studio time is one expense. There’s also the team learning the artist, refining the work, finding the audience, and staying long enough to use what they learn. If every release has to prove itself immediately, you’re funding auditions.

Everybody’s talking about artists needing to build their own businesses, but a distributor and a funding offer don’t replace artist development. Who’s helping sharpen the music, put a release together, build an audience, and get the rights and money organized before there’s enough revenue to qualify for funding?? That’s the work we’re doing at IRAS, with artists who are still building. Independence shouldn’t mean figuring all of that out alone. theiras.com

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but the “music execs” who are on live all day in front of nondescript plaques are scamming you.

I don’t think artist development is not dying. Majors are simply doing less of it before demand is measurable. That leaves artists to develop alone or independent companies to absorb the cost without enough infrastructure behind them. My company IRAS exists to close that gap by developing artists early, building the systems around the work and creating lasting value without making major label validation being the end goal.
Dang, is artist development dying? It seems like the present and near-future is more so for independent artists already « developed » on their own terms, while major labels just want to become their digital marketing teams.

The irony is everyone who passed on me now have to ask someone else to recognize their value.
