In 1998, Kevin McKim removed DBA.com from his shopping cart to save about $100.
Around 2007, Ira Zoot passed on IZ.com for $15,000 because he couldn't verify the chain of ownership.
Two decisions. Two very expensive regrets.
We've picked the winners of The Domain That Got Away contest. First place goes to @izoot for IZ.com, and second place goes to @KevinMcKim for DBA.com. One story was about caution. The other was about saving $100. Both still hurt.
Kevin's prize includes a $100 Dynadot credit, which feels a little poetic. Nearly 30 years later he gets another $100 to try his luck.
And thanks to @spaceship, Ira gets $500 in account credits, which seems fitting. His domain story already launched into orbit. Kevin also received $500 cash, a one-year Countersign Team subscription, a one-year DomDB Tycoon subscription, an official URLs.com domain appraisal, a brokerage consultation with a discounted acquisition commission and a 30-minute legal consultation with domain attorney Jeff Neuman of JJN Solutions.
