And just like that, every American is an expert on red cards. I’m not going to pretend I watch futball during the three years between World Cups. I’ll just believe whatever Thierry Henry and Zlatan say about it tonight.

I’ve been reading Good to Great by Jim Collins. Halfway through, I realized I’m the kind of person who reads business books in bed and immediately starts comparing small nocturnal mammals to some of the design teams I most admire. johnstevenlloydjr.substack.c…

Replying to @geoff_calkins
@geoff_calkins the best thing you will see today. After being banned from Brighton High, the Central High band all buy a ticket, come as the greatest student section of all time, and, when the Warriors run back an early kickoff, pull pocket kazoos & play the school fight song!

After an incredible run leading design at Hilton, our team was impacted by a broader restructuring. While I wasn’t planning to be on the market, I’m energized by the opportunity to start something new. johnlloyd.us/

It's a super-rough draft with a ton of details to polish, but it's still a milestone. Here's a look at the full lowercase set of the font I'm working on. I haven't even started thinking about a name for this.

I finished reading The Emperor of Gladness today. Grazina was unforgettable and Vuong’s prose is beautiful. I struggled with Hai. How can you be such a rock with other people’s problems and so conflicted with your own? But maybe that’s the point

I had an idea about a month ago to use one of my son’s cracked wooden baseball bats to make something for Mother’s Day. He just played his last highschool game a week ago. They are simple but I managed to make a couple little easel picture frames.
