The Villainous Cat

[#YIBO101 MYTH-BUSTING SERIES] 𝗠𝗬𝗧𝗛: Wang Yibo is nothing without Yuehua’s resources and connections. 𝗙𝗔𝗖𝗧: YH’s board of directors revealed that #WangYibo is their main service provider, which means he is the one providing the network and resources to the company. More than half of Wang Yibo’s projects and activities are the result of his hard work and talent. Yuehua Entertainment may have given him some opportunities, but they have not provided all of them. Commercial Value: He built his name and personal brand from the ground up. Most of his brands, if not all, emphasize why he was chosen and the best fit to represent them. It has never been about which company is managing him. Representative Works: It was confirmed that Wang Yibo was a substitute YH representative for the ‘Day Day Up’ host audition in 2016. He Jiong also mentioned that he is always the substitute guest in ‘Happy Camp’ because he stays at Hunan Satellite TV often. In the early part of his career, rumour has it that YH did not pay for his acting classes. He also has to audition for his roles in ‘The Untamed’ and ‘Being a Hero’. Most of his works are not offered by YH, as confirmed by the production team: Hidden Blade: Cheng Er saw Wang Yibo’s photo and asked for Huang Lei’s help to contact him. Born To Fly: Liu Xiaoshi has initially contacted YH, but Du Hua rejected his proposal. Hence, he personally contacted Wang Yibo who agreed to take the role after reading the initial script. One and Only: Da Peng did crowdsourcing among street dancers as to who is the best actor to play Chen Shuo’s role, and the unanimous decision was Wang Yibo. War of Faith: Yao Xiaofeng revealed that he approached Wang Yibo with two scripts, and he personally chose War of Faith despite the initial challenges of it to start in production. Exploring The Unknown: Warner Bros. Discovery revealed that Wang Yibo personally initiated and proposed the idea in 2022. They started the filming 20 months later, and the first season was released in 2024. Additionally, Wang Yibo is the core revenue generator of the company, accounting for 60% of the company’s revenue in one year. In less than 24 hours after the announcement of his contract renewal, there has already been an obvious immediate effect in the market. The stock price increased by 2.51% within the day after declining to 20% for 5 consecutive weeks during the non-renewal rumors. Every year since 2022, the tagline YH used in their hiring process was “Be the next Wang Yibo.” Recently, a former YH artist revealed that YH can opt not to offer a contract renewal; hence, the artist has no other choice but to leave the company. If it is so easy to have the next Wang Yibo, why did YH still offer a contract renewal with a promised equity incentive? With these facts, it can be said that Wang Yibo can live without Yuehua Entertainment. However, the same thing cannot be said with the company since they tied half of their life to him.
