First time I heard of @elonmusk was at the 2005 small satellite conference. I was working at an ASU NASA lab. The industry people were very critical of him from what I recall. My group left before his talk at end of conf, I saw booth but was not staffed. 🤦‍♂️
"Musk has sharp elbows and prevented rivals from emerging." It's the complete opposite you simple caveman. Musk entered a mature industry with a stagnant private sector, dominated by state-owned ventures like Russia's launch sector. All the experts said he was doomed to failure, but he succeeded. His success emboldened others and encouraged new competition.

Cyber cab seems like it is very similar to a mini pickup truck. The back clamshell I think is a massive trunk. Maybe wouldn’t take much for them to modify it?
Tesla is likely to make another pickup truck, BTW. A more normal one.

She turned down $40.2m? What was she hoping to get?
What I learned from this video: - Elon offered Ashley $15 million upfront, plus $100,000 a month for 21 years. - She rejected the offer and went public. - He withdrew the original offer and reduced her monthly payments to $40,000. - By the end, those payments had dropped again… to $20,000 a month. In other words, Elon offered her generational wealth. She wanted more, went public, and ended up with substantially less. And somehow, the WSJ expects me to feel sorry for someone receiving $240,000 a year to raise her own child.

The most profitable thing for Texas is to sit back and let Elon do his thing.
Replying to @WSJPolitics
SpaceX and Tesla have prospered in Texas, because we were not constantly operating under an oppressive and extractive state government. And I need to be close to the factories, so that I can walk the floor in person. That’s why the first major SpaceX factory was in LA and first major Tesla factory was in SF Bay Area. As California became increasingly difficult, due to extreme taxes and overregulation, we moved our major domestic expansions and HQ to Texas.

What will the second-order effects of this be 🥶?
Gina Hinojosa says she'll declare a cost of living emergency on day one and freeze electricity rates

Also Aircraft should be fully instrumented so AI can “debug”. AI should be reviewing all systems and flight plans before a flight esp for GA. (Does ForeFlight and the like run a flight briefing thru AI to flag issues and make suggestions yet?)
I wonder if Boeing and Airbus are using AI to find corner case bugs in flight control software. Could AI have found the MCAS bug before it killed 346?

AI should be monitoring flights and systems en route. Raising equipment or piloting issues. AI should be debriefing all flights.

First they push away manufacturing to other countries. Now they will do the data and intelligence. What will be left here?
Meta et al. already thinking about building data centers outside the US. great work, everyone

.
US industrial capacity has been eroding for decades, and with it the fortunes of our middle class and to an extent, our national security. Data center development and our leadership in AI can reverse that trend, finally. Current hysteria to block all projects everywhere is a gift to China.

It is better to have people ask why you don’t have a Nobel prize, than why you do.
What if your investing could be guided by a Nobel laureate in economics? Exactly 30 years ago, the WSJ highlighted Paul Krugman's prediction that Taiwan's economic growth would fizzle. I asked ChatGPT to figure out how much an investor would have gained by shorting three public Taiwanese companies in 1996: TSMC, Foxconn, and ASUS. The profit from a Nobel-guided $3,000 short ($1,000 each) would today be at least NEGATIVE $681,185 after currency adjustment.

AI/SI is an IQ test.
I’ve given up trying to convince people. If you can’t use AI and immediately grasp how it could be valuable I can’t help you. Best of luck. I’ll be using it.

FSD on hurry is so good at outmaneuvering assholes.
My favorite thing about FSD is that sometimes I can tell people purposefully don’t want to let us merge, and FSD is like - no you don’t understand. I’m merging now. And then proceeds to find a gap even when it feels impossible 🤷‍♀️

Every TikTok and Insta reels is now a location check-in
this guy figured out how to leak your exact location from any video with sound using the Doppler curves of nearby airplanes

Code
colsto’s aircraft doppler geolocation video is awesome, but doesn't come with code. here's my reimplementation python lib & CLI. curves and harmonics are fit automatically, and all data is free. need to test some more when I have time, but PRs welcome. go nuts.

FSD is 10x safer right now, and with universal FSD adoption the ratio would probably be incredibly small.
Lifetime risk of dying in a car accident is 1 in 115

Hypothesis: When you don’t let people see others question the narrative (by removing topics), it makes it easier for people to transform & rage out (eg Agent Smith) when someone does start to show signs of independent thought about an issue instead of immediate acceptance.
"There are subreddits Neo, endless subreddits, where human beings no longer think, they're demoralized. For the longest time, I wouldn’t believe it ..then I saw the threads with my own eyes. Watched them ban & downvote people who shared links to things leftists didn't approve of"

What a dumb thing to do.
I thought it was just a proposal, but it actually passed 🤯 France will charge €0.055 per GB on all internet traffic!

.
So, the French socialists, and Parliament members just voted a tax, that they don’t understand, which would cost VideoLAN more than 1 million euro per year. They are probably the most clueless politician on Earth? And they claim they want technological sovereignty… @LaurentLhardit
