Never seen a more flagrant and violent breach of privacy in my life, and probably never will. Doubtful that a privacy violation will ever even be able to compare to the scale of this evil and deliberate attack. Samsung should be eviscerated for this. Criminal charges please
turns out it classifies what audio it hears, before reporting back to samsung. sensor preferences, dog-barking and baby-crying event counters, and camera streaming duration are built into telemetry paths.

Worth repeating: Expect an avalanche of new software because the dam has broken, one person who knows what they want, and understands UI design can make a big complex app in 2-3 months. Over a weekend you can snap together an app from common UI concepts. Think of making software the same way you play with LEGOs.

The architecture of information
Uber: We have many cars 1 minute away, see? Me: I’ll take it. Uber: Great! Give me 5 minutes to find a real one. Me: What? Uber: Locked! <map zooms out> He’ll be here in 12 minutes!

I hate that Zoom now nudges me to let it take notes on all my meetings, including those happening in other platforms. It's a gross violation of my mental model of how these systems work. The fact Google Meet, WebEx, and whatever are different contexts is a feature, not a bug. The last thing I want is to cross the streams. I now have to quit out of Zoom Workplace all the time — and it takes forever to start up. (What is it doing?!) I've been late to a few meetings because of this. Really bad show.

"Impressing" through verbosity has always been undesirable, but at least it used to be expensive. Now it's cheap. Far from impressing anyone, it suggests you don't care, because both Claude and ChatGPT default to verbosity. If you want to impress me, give me three or four pithy yet insightful bullet points. Leave the verborrhea to the bots.

Slack's stream-based IA sucks for re-findability, especially in chatty projects.

We’ve lost an icon. Margaret Hamilton, a computer science pioneer best known for her work at MIT leading development of the flight software for the Apollo missions to the moon, has died at 90. Read about her legacy via MIT News: news.mit.edu/2026/margaret-h…

Probably going to be completely overlooked by the media but today is the 200th birthday of photography as a medium and that’s pretty cool
The world celebrates the 100th anniversary of photography. 100 years ago today, on October 6, 1826, Nicéphore Niépce took the earliest surviving photograph, “View from the Window at Le Gras.”

Much of my day-to-day work now entails AI agents. I pause every once in a while to reflect on what we're learning about the current project. Then, I ask agents to document key insights in their context docs. That way, we keep getting smarter about the project.
