My theory is that Binance has had a hole in their balance sheet for a while now.
Today was their last-ditch effort to nuke crypto prices so they could buy back way lower, fill the hole, and maybe even make some money off the top.
They saw prices going up, realized the hole was going to get WAY bigger, and decided to nuke it.
Unfortunately for them, prices didn't drop nearly as much as they needed.
And I'm not buying this story about some random DevOps developer getting hacked and compromising the entire operation.
I've worked in enterprise software engineering. Nobody at companies of this size should have that kind of unilateral access.
Changes to critical infrastructure typically have to go through multiple layers of review. Engineering, security, DBAs, org leadership, etc.
In a properly secured Kubernetes environment, you aren't be able to just waltz into production pods and do whatever.
You're telling me one compromised DevOps engineer had enough access to cause BILLIONS in losses, and there wasn't a single additional control in place to stop it?
You expect me to believe that shit?
Something doesn't add up.
This is speculation, obviously.

When the Titanic sank, it carried millionaire John Jacob Astor IV. The money in his bank account was enough to build 30 Titanics. However, faced with mortal danger, he chose what he deemed morally right and gave up his spot in a lifeboat to save two frightened children.
Millionaire Isidor Straus, co-owner of the largest American chain of department stores, "Macy's," who was also on the Titanic, said:
"I will never enter a lifeboat before other men."
His wife, Ida Straus, also refused to board the lifeboat, giving her spot to her newly appointed maid, Ellen Bird. She decided to spend her last moments of life with her husband.
These wealthy individuals preferred to part with their wealth, and even their lives, rather than compromise their moral principles. Their choice in favor of moral values highlighted the brilliance of human civilization and human nature.

🇺🇸 In 2004, an escaped convict known as “Roofman” secretly lived inside a Toys “R” Us for 6 months.
Jeffrey Manchester built a hidden lair behind a false wall in the Charlotte, North Carolina store.
At night he rode bikes through the empty aisles, raced remote-control cars on the roof, ate snacks from the shelves, and even changed the employees’ work schedules on the store computer.
By day he attended church under a fake name and handed out stolen toys to kids.
His bizarre setup was finally exposed the day after Christmas when he attempted to rob the same Toys “R” Us at gunpoint.
Police found his secret passageway, his hidden room, and a fingerprint on a DVD of “Catch Me If You Can”
Manchester was recaptured in January 2005 and sentenced to an additional 40 years. His projected release date is December 4, 2036.

In 1998, after nineteen years of marriage, Alan Jackson moved out of the home he shared with his wife, Denise.
They had been together since high school in Newnan, Georgia. They met at a Dairy Queen when he was seventeen and she was sixteen, married in December 1979, and weathered his early years as a struggling musician in Nashville.
By the late 1990s, he was one of the biggest stars in country music. Instead of enjoying that success together, the relentless touring, career pressure, and personal mistakes pushed their marriage to the breaking point.
For nearly four months, they lived apart. Divorce seemed likely. Everything they had built from nothing was on the verge of disappearing.
Their separation played out while Jackson remained in the public eye, with three young daughters caught in the middle of a fractured home.
Then they made a choice. Rather than signing divorce papers, Alan and Denise entered intensive counseling and fought to rebuild their trust from the ground up. He cut back his time on the road. They stayed together.
Five years later, in 2003, Jackson sat down with his guitar and decided to put the entire truth of their journey into a single song. He did not write a polished fairy tale. He wrote “Remember When.”
In just over four minutes, he traced their life from the beginning: two teenagers falling in love, the early financial struggles, the arrival of their three daughters, and the quiet ache of watching those children grow up and leave home.
Most importantly, he did not hide the darkest chapter. Right in the middle of the song, he openly acknowledged the period when they broke each other’s hearts and stood on the edge of losing everything, before finding the grace to put the pieces back together.
When Jackson played the finished recording for Denise for the first time, she broke down in tears.
Released in late 2003 as the lead single from his Greatest Hits Volume II album, “Remember When” spent two weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart in early 2004.
For the official music video, Denise agreed to appear alongside him, dancing quietly with her husband while real home videos and photographs from their youth flashed across the screen.
More than twenty years later, the song remains a staple at weddings and anniversaries across the country. It endures not because it describes a perfect marriage, but because it was written by a man who nearly lost his wife—and lived to grow old with her.
Choosing to fight for a marriage after nearly losing it all is the quiet truth that made “Remember When” timeless ♥️♥️
