“We were soldiers once…and young.”
Cheers to all the veterans out there for being willing to sacrifice so much for this great country.

Of course he will.
Democrats on the Hill didn't really bring the fight during Hegseth's confirmation hearings/process, so what should he be afraid of?
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is expected to face multiple investigations if there’s a power shift in Congress after this week’s midterm elections. His team says he wants to stay and fight.

Iran's rhetoric on the war has hardened considerably over the past two days. From Mojtabai Khamenei to Rezaie, to senior have all said that if war resumes Iran will react with massive, disproportionate and unrestricted retaliation. This shows that Iran thinks that despite the last minute diplomatic activity war is becoming more likely, and its threats are aimed at deterring war or at least the more massive war plan options Trump is looking at. Iran's hardened rhetoric is not because diplomacy is succeeding but because likely it is not.
When Admiral McRaven speaks, you should always listen:
“If people feel like our values don’t matter anymore—our values as war fighters, our values as Americans—then they’re not going to be there when we need them,” says William McRaven.

🚨🇮🇷🇺🇸Iran's supreme leader orders "maximum" response to any U.S. attack. My report on @axios

An Army buddy of mine who still works for @DeptofWar commented to me a couple of months ago that the damage done to bases in the Middle East since the Iran war had set us back ~20 years.
Here's a more comprehensive look at that destruction than I've seen to date:
As Trump considers escalating the war with Iran, here’s a look at the widespread damage done to U.S. bases so far.
Our analysis shows that throughout the conflict, Iran has changed tactics and adapted its attacks;

WSJ: The top U.S. commander in the Middle East briefed President Trump on Thursday on military options for Iran… Joining Adm. Brad Cooper was Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine. The meeting included other cabinet members and covered other topics including the continuing U.S. blockade, some of the people said.

NEW: Iran is unlikely to respond positively to a recent US letter proposing comprehensive direct negotiations. A senior US official and an Iranian official told the New York Times on October 28 that US Vice President JD Vance sent Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Secretary Major General Mohsen Rezaei a letter through Qatari mediators that proposed comprehensive direct negotiations. Rezaei recently reiterated hardline negotiating positions, which were demands that the United States end the war on all fronts, release frozen assets, and lift the naval blockade before negotiations over anything else resume. These views are consistent with official Iranian state positions. (1/2)

NEW: The public Pentagon database tracking Iran war casualties recorded the death of a US Air Force member on Wednesday afternoon, raising the total US military death toll since Feb. 28 to 22.
The DCAS update specified that the death occurred under “non-hostile” circumstances.

Here is why the current DoD narrative on firing of Lt Gen Sylvia is so odd. Did the chairman of joint chiefs know about alleged three lie detector failures and then still keep Sylvia on the job? For how long? Did he agree to let his very top people be tested? Why was the first statement wishing Gen Sylvia the best then amended to something less? Was the chairman aware? We just don’t know

Does not account for cost of damage to US bases, similar to previous Pentagon estimates for Iran war — a data point that would dramatically increase this number.
DoD officials have testified they cannot provide estimates for cost of damage to US bases because they haven’t determined if those bases will be repaired/rebuilt.
But it means the true dollar amount remains unknown (though it is absolutely more than what the Pentagon has provided to Hill)
