Yes! The doctor-patient relationship is completely different from a client-provider one. But words only carry meaning if we live up to them. Using doctor-patient carries a responsibility. A responsibility to be more than someone who provides a service, but someone who genuinely cares. We should welcome that duty. I am glad the APA is. Let’s go and make American medicine meaningful again.

At elite universities, 1/5 of students are registered as "disabled." (Fits my experience: accommodating students who claim extra time or special rooms for exams is a routine part of teaching. I meet in my office with charming, voluble, successful students who slip in, "I'm autistic." theatlantic.com/magazine/202…

The GMC Workforce report 2025 is out. 1 in 3 doctors feel they cannot progress their careers as desired. Certain groups of doctors report poorer experiences, so more inclusive and equitable practices in medicine are needed. #SASsix @gmcuk

I wrote below NYT oped criticizing RFK Jr's dumb vaccine/autism conspiracy theory. So I know how stupid these people are. But Trump's autism comments today were absolutely moronic. & shame on FDA HEAD (who knows better) for supporting this reckless BS. nytimes.com/2025/06/23/opini…

I think kindness is most important quality in psychotherapists. Not usually sufficient to good outcome but almost always necessary. Real problem in psych field that kindness is so ignored in selection/training/practice. Some of worst therapists I've known have been supersmart.
