"All in all, EIP-6551 has the potential to meaningfully change how we view NFTs. By giving NFTs ownership capabilities, entirely new consumer applications and interaction models can be built."
1/ While top-of-the-market #NFT projects continue to become more financialized, there are still a number of NFT projects looking to bring utility-driven use cases back to NFTs. @saypien breaks these down use cases, including token-bound accounts below.👇🧵

Really makes you wonder how many keys out there were accidentally generated with only 8 bits of entropy
Announcing 3 Critical vulns for hundreds of millions of IoT, Firewalls, OT, and Military devices including: Palo Alto Networks, Comcast, D-Link, HP, Canon, Honeywell, GE, Oracle, Siemens, Rockwell, Digi, Lockheed Martin, Boeing... The vulns are with GoAhead Web Server which is a backend library used by these devices. There's a patch available from GoAhead but that doesn't mean there's a patch available for the devices yet -- that's up to the manufacturer. - TLS traffic over DHE ciphers have a 1-byte secret, "04", meaning anyone can decrypt connections to these devices and steal login credentials and session tokens if the client negotiated with DHE ciphers like the latest TLS_DHE_RSA_WITH_CHACHA20_POLY1305_SHA256, which is extremely likely. - LibreSSL mTLS has been completely bypassed, meaning anyone can connect over mTLS. If you have one of these devices listening on the internet and are expecting mTLS to protect it from attackers, take it offline or patch asap. - OpenSSL Certificate Revocation Lists (CRLs) are not enforced, meaning if a user device is stolen or compromised, and you revoke that mTLS cert, nothing actually happens. There are a lot of other attacks this can be used for. These are critical because these types of devices run our world. Water systems, electricity, military, firewalls, critical infrastructure. foxio.io/blog/choose-your-ba…

I've been quietly frustrated with crypto for a while. Some of it leaks out on the timeline. Most of it happens in group chats with friends, where I keep trying to name a product category I can feel but can't quite articulate. Here's my best shot: NFTs can be durable digital toys. Think about the toys you had as a kid. If it was in your drawer, you could come back 20 years later and, as long as nobody threw it out, it was still there, exactly how you left it. Digital things don't work like that. The company goes out of business or gets acquired, the servers shut off, and your stuff is just gone. And more and more of our lives are digital. So what makes a digital toy durable? It's yours. Provably, verifiably yours. Not "yours until the terms of service change." You should be able to come back years later, read the chain, and pick up right where you left off. The actual data, same as it was before. It's expandable. As a kid, you'd grab two sets of toys and imagine what they could do together. You'd race your cars down a ramp you built out of blocks. They were sold separately, by different companies, but in your room you played exactly how you liked. Onchain toys work the same way. You don't need my permission to build on what I made. If you want to use it in a way I never would, just ask your favorite coding agent to build the thing you always wished existed! No need to wait on me. Rare means rare. When something might carry real value, you need honest bookkeeping. If we release 100 of something and rescind ownership of the contract, we cryptographically cannot make more. Anyone can check. No mystery pack odds. No quietly printing extras. Here's the thing, though. Nobody wants to buy a "verifiable toy." That's not fun. The blockchain can be the source of truth. It's there if you want it even if most people will never look at it. The toy is the point. That's what we're building with Chonks. Your Chonk is yours. It doesn't depend on us at all. Its traits and history live on-chain, so if you come back in ten years, it's right where you left it. It's expandable: anyone can plug their Chonk (or anyone else’s) into a game, a comic, or some weird tool we never imagined, no permission needed. And when we drop a trait collection, the number we say is the number that exists. Forever. We spent years treating this stuff like it was only about pictures and floor prices. I think what comes next is a lot more fun. Durable digital toys: digital toys that are actually yours.

Amplifi is the leverage for everything app. If it trades onchain, you should be able to trade it with leverage. Today, Juiced becomes Amplifi Trade and offers leverage on @RobinhoodCrypto Chain tokens. Predict: up to 10x on @Polymarket event contracts Trade: up to 5x on launchpad tokens and long tail assets Most of what trades onchain has no leverage today: - 72% of the most traded DEX assets have no perp on Hyperliquid or Lighter. These assets account for ~45% of DEX volume. - Polymarket will do around $80B volume this year with no margin at all. So far: $5M traded, 425 traders, 1,317 markets live. Predict. Trade. Amplified.

Most AI tools give everyone access to the same generic models. The result? Everything looks the same. We have a different vision for AI creation. Introducing TITLES, a new creative studio built around AI models trained and owned by artists. In Studio, you can create with distinct visual perspectives developed by artists, across image and video — all in one place. This is the future we're building toward: not one model for everyone, but a growing network of unique styles you can build with — where artists get credited and paid as the work spreads. users can't self-host (ig, x) -> users can self host (fc, bsky) -> users are incentivized to self host (perma)
Replying to @bennygiang
luckily alt social network protocols were developed. they took a giant step forwarded and open sourced their file storage + indexer. allowing anyone to run their own infra. it still required technical skills + the costs would steadily rise as the network grew. the question remains: who will pay for it? why would they pay for it? what is the incentive to pay $$ to host your own infra for this protocol? no clear incentives are defined...

users want to run apps, not servers
Replying to @bennygiang
it wouldn't be a worthy thread if i didn't include some of the things we are investigating... with @PERdotMA v2 we are working on solving the storage + indexing problem with a novel solution called cosin (tentative name), where storage + indexing leverages the each user's app cache. paired with the idea of 'programmatic incentives' that have been championed by @a16zcrypto @eddylazzarin @cdixon the concept: every app user is a participant of the network lowering the technical barrier of operating an indexer and significantly reducing the cost of decentralized storage.

I'm reading through the @virtuals_io whitepaper right now and it's SUPER cool to see ERC6551 NFTs being used to mint and represent onchain AI agents. I remember when I first met @bennygiang and @jayden_windle at Basecamp in 2023 and in SF and they were talking about bringing NPCs onchain with @erc6551. The grind is paying off. Now we're seeing NFTs that own other NFTs and can interact with other contracts, managing tokens that are worth 9 digits!! Composability, culture, and currency, all in one. Amazing.

I took one of my @chonksxyz, sent it some ETH, had it register on @opensea, and buy itself a @hexagons_art to use for its banner. It's holding the NFT in its "pack" - just like its traits. Token Bound Accounts (ERC-6551) are one of the best things to happen to NFTs.
