Realizing sustainable urban transformation across India requires moving past fragmented departmental firefighting and establishing unified, accountable infrastructure governance.
In this insightful session, leadership from government, state regulatory boards, and urban institutes highlighted that the central barrier to resilient development is not a lack of technical solutions, but institutional silos and uncoordinated planning across city boundaries.
From establishing single-command metropolitan umbrella authorities to enforce cross-agency alignment, to advancing circular economy principles and curbing private vehicle dominance in favor of complete, human-centric streets, the panel laid out a clear blueprint for structural reform.
By aligning master plans with measurable environmental metrics, building internal capacity, and prioritizing our most vulnerable urban communities, we can redefine governance to deliver truly equitable, resilient, and future-ready cities.

♻️ Kitchen to Kitchen | Turning Organic Waste into Useful Resources
Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation is exploring innovative and sustainable solutions for scientific management and recycling of organic waste, with a focus on converting waste into valuable resources.
🌱 The proposed “Kitchen to Kitchen” approach promotes decentralised processing of wet and green waste at source across gated communities, apartments, parks, offices, food courts, hostels, institutions and other bulk waste generators.
🌿 The Accelerated Anaerobic Composting (AAC) technology developed by CSIR-IICT facilitates the conversion of organic waste into a carbon-rich soil conditioner through controlled composting.
The initiative aims to reduce organic waste sent for conventional disposal while promoting the reuse of processed waste for gardening and soil enrichment.
