The true measure of a development-oriented banking sector is not how beautifully it advertises entrepreneurship, or how effectively it auctions collateral, but how successfully its lending practices enable viable businesses to grow, survive difficulties and repay their obligation

Are African financial institutions sufficiently diligent in assessing the commercial viability and repayment capacity of the businesses they finance, or have they become overly dependent on collateral and enforcement mechanisms as substitutes for sound credit assessment?
A successful secured transaction should ultimately be measured by the borrower's ability to repay from a functioning business, not by the lender's ability to sell the borrower's property.

The government is seeking investors to develop a 200-megawatt floating solar power plant with battery storage on Lake Sake in Ngoma District, while another project is being considered for an artificial lake planned along the Nyabarongo River.
• The proposed installations would be #Rwanda’s first floating solar power plants, with panels mounted on floating platforms and anchored to keep them in position.
• The Energy Development Corporation Limited (EDCL) said the technology could help preserve cultivable land for agriculture and other productive uses while expanding renewable electricity generation.
• Experts said Rwanda can draw lessons from countries such as China, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand, which already operate floating solar facilities.

If the US wants to be objective in helping end the long running Rwanda/DRC face-off in Eastern Congo, then sanctioning only one side will not help. The Tshisekedi Govt has its own proxies that threaten Rwanda, so why not sanction all the troublemakers?

On behalf of the government and people of South Africa, I offer warm congratulations to His Excellency President @PaulKagame and the government and people of Rwanda on securing a 10-year agreement to host the Formula 1 African Grand Prix.
South Africa shares in the pride with which Rwanda is preparing to fly the chequered flag for our continent with the hosting of a globally prestigious event at the planned Bugesera circuit from the early 2030s.
This contract is a recognition of the capabilities of the Rwandan nation and of our continent more broadly.
As host of the first Grand Prix on African soil in 1993, and organiser of other major global events, South Africa will be happy to provide any support we may be invited to share.
The F1 African Grand Prix is another lustrous addition to Rwanda’s growing collection of top international events, including the UCI-classified Tour du Rwanda cycling race.
Congratulations, Rwanda.
You are in pole position to make all of Africa proud and take motorsport to new heights.
