He underrated the blind old man and paid dearly.
I swore not to be like my father when I give birth. Growing up, my dad was incredibly strict with me. He never allowed me to go out and play, forcing me to spend every waking hour studying. By isolating me from friends, he severely damaged my growth, leaving me with low self esteem, deep shyness, and a crushing inability to express myself in public. When my own son was born, I stood on my words to break the cycle. Terrified of repeating my father’s authoritarian mistakes, I swung to the absolute opposite extreme. I implemented no rules, zero discipline, and endless freedom. But parenting without structure backfired. My son interpreted the lack of boundaries as neglect rather than love. He drifted into dangerous crowds, and upon reaching adulthood, he cut off all contact, leaving me entirely alone after I lost his mother. Sitting in that empty house, I finally realized that rewriting my life required looking inward rather than just changing how I parented.

The night my life fell apart, my biggest problem was that nobody believed me. By the end of the year, strangers were thanking me for telling my story. I lived alone in Toronto and had finally saved enough to feel secure. Then someone broke into my apartment, stole my savings, and sexually assaulted me. I reported what happened, but the experience left me frightened, exhausted, and struggling with the feeling that my own home no longer belonged to me. Some people offered support; others asked questions that made me feel responsible for someone else's actions. For weeks, I barely recognised myself. I stayed with a trusted friend, sought professional support, and worked with investigators while trying to regain a sense of safety. I learned that healing wasn't a straight line. Some mornings were good; others were difficult for reasons I couldn't explain. But I stopped measuring my progress by how quickly I could pretend everything was fine. Months later, I began writing anonymously about rebuilding my life after trauma. I expected a few readers. Instead, people from different countries began sharing their own experiences of surviving violence, betrayal, and fear. Their messages reminded me that shame belonged to the person who caused the harm, not the person who survived it. Eventually, I returned to work, found a new apartment, and started volunteering with an organisation supporting survivors. I didn't suddenly become fearless, and I didn't forget what happened. I simply began making decisions based on the future I wanted instead of the fear I'd been left with. One evening, I read a message from a woman who said my words had helped her ask for support for the first time. I cried, closed my laptop, and looked around my peaceful new home. I once thought the worst night of my life had taken my future away. I was wrong. It changed my path, but it did not get to decide my destination?

🎬THE AVENGERS DIDN'T LOSE IN INFINITY WAR BECAUSE THANOS WAS STRONG. THEY LOST BECAUSE THEY WERE SELFISH. Strange had seen 14 million futures and knew this was the one chance. Iron Man and Spider-Man had him pinned, Drax and Mantis had him helpless, and Quill just had to keep it together for 10 more seconds while they pulled the gauntlet off. But Thanos told him he killed Gamora, and Quill — a man who claims to love her — chose to punch Thanos in the face instead of saving half the universe. That's not love. That's ego. He wanted revenge more than he wanted her back. One punch, and the gauntlet stayed on. And it wasn't just him. Thor had Thanos dead to rights at the end, axe in his chest, and instead of cutting his head off he had to give a speech: "I told you you'd die for that." He wanted Thanos to know who killed him. He wanted revenge for Loki, for his people, for his eye. Wanda had to destroy the stone, but she waited because she couldn't let go of Vision. Strange gave up the Time Stone to save Tony, even though he said he wouldn't. Everyone had a job and everyone made it personal. Thanos was the only one on that battlefield who was willing to lose what he loved most to win. That's why he won.

YOUR DAUGHTER CAN AFFORD TO PAY FOR YOUR ENTIRE TRIP. WHY IS SHE ONLY PAYING FOR YOUR FLIGHT?” The Canadian visa officer's question caught me off guard. “My daughter is buying my flight ticket, sir. I'll cover my feeding, accommodation, and other expenses with my savings.” He looked at me and asked, “Doesn't your daughter earn enough to pay for everything?”

I was sixteen when my mother married a man I eventually learned to fear. At first, my stepdad treated me like his own daughter. He bought me gifts, helped with school expenses, and always reminded my mother how much he cared about us. But everything changed the night my mother traveled to visit her sister. I was in my bedroom when he knocked on my door around midnight. He said he wanted to talk, but something about the way he looked at me made me uncomfortable. He sat on my bed and started asking questions about my relationships. Before I could answer, he moved closer and tried touching me inappropriately. I immediately pushed him away. “You’re my daughter,” he whispered. “Don’t make this a big deal.” I was shaking. I told him to leave my room, but he grabbed my wrist and warned me not to tell my mother because she would never believe me. The moment he finally walked out, I locked my door and cried until morning. When my mother returned, I wanted to tell her everything. But every time I saw them laughing together, I imagined what would happen if she chose him over me. Three days later, he tried approaching me again. This time, I secretly recorded his threatening words. That evening, I showed my mother the recording. She listened without saying a word. Then she looked at him and asked him to explain himself. He called me a liar. He claimed I was trying to destroy their marriage.

Water Monkey is a Chinese creature-feature blending folklore with horror and action. The story kicks off on a misty river where the "Water Monkey" - a fast, agile monster attacks a boat and drags a victim underwater. Villagers fight back with tridents and spears, but the creature's agility lets it scale masts and dodge traps, even targeting a young woman on deck.
