No I’m sorry 3 years is way too long for a fellowship. 6 months max. You can learn 99% of the job in 6 months. Everything else goes to Mayo.
Incredible first time @LINCmeeting - complex live cases, innovative techniques, and new devices from a diverse group. So grateful to see Germany and share this experience with my much better half @biancakenyonmd.

Fantastic opportunity for medical students interested in vascular surgery.
I got a lot out of the course in terms of deciding on a career path, applications/interviews, and was able to meet PDs as well as future coapplicants/colleagues.
Calling all medical students to the Introduction to Academic Vascular Surgery conference 10/19-10/21/23! Abstract submission deadline 8/8/23. Great opportunity to meet faculty, learn skills to be a great researcher and surgeon, and present your work! @FutureVascSurgn @VascularSVS

Hey new #interns:
Going forward, you may feel pressure to "be professional" or otherwise conform to some mythical norms. Don't. Don't lose the style/individuality/uniqueness that got you to this point.
Be you. Everyone else will adjust.
Thanks to @drbermendes @GustavoOderich @MayoVascSurgery @UTHeartVascular for the continued support and invitation to present!
PMEGs are safe with both TX2 and Alpha. Signal for more type II/III EL with Alpha deserves further analysis.

My takeaways from #ASC2023 @AcademicSurgery for my fellow DO students interested in surgery:
1. Many of our allopathic counterparts are involved in research led by mentors who are at the top of their field. We need to network and get deeply involved to keep pace.
Is there a more satisfying moment in vascular surgery than a productive Fogarty embolectomy pass? Great case with an even better team. @MDBreite @trasmussen_md

Having trouble advancing a sheath or device into a target artery during FBEVAR?
One strategy: inflation of a non-compliant balloon (i.e. Coda) above the sheath, which provides support to advance into difficult anatomy.

The most - to least - desired medical specialties in the 2022 Match, ranked by ratio of applicants to positions.
(These data include only an applicant’s preferred specialty - i.e., the specialty they ranked number 1 - so multiple specialty applicants count only once.)

ALT Graphic demonstrating the ratio of applicants per position for various medical specialties in the 2022 NRMP Match. All applicant types are included, though only an applicant’s preferred specialty is considered (i.e., the specialty the applicant ranked number one - which removes dual applicants). Plastic surgery had the highest ratio at 1.75, while three specialties had ratios <1 (child neurology, emergency medicine, and radiation oncology).

Found this flyer from 1999 in one of Dr. @gloviczki’s OR files, tucked away in one of the vascular call rooms. I’ve only seen pictures of these in buckets.
