“My parents died years ago. I was very close to them. I still miss them terribly. I know I always will. I long to believe that their essence, their personalities, what I loved so much about them, are - really and truly - still in existence somewhere. I wouldn't ask very much, just five or ten minutes a year, say, to tell them about their grandchildren, to catch them up on the latest news, to remind them that I love them.
There's a part of me - no matter how childish it sounds - that wonders how they are. "Is everything all right?" I want to ask. The last words I found myself saying to my father, at the moment of his death, were "Take care."
Sometimes I dream that I'm talking to my parents, and suddenly - still immersed in the dreamwork - I'm seized by the overpowering realization that they didn't really die, that it's all been some kind of horrible mistake.
Why, here they are, alive and well, my father making wry jokes, my mother earnestly advising me to wear a muffler because the weather is chilly. When I wake up I go through an abbreviated process of mourning all over again. Plainly, there's something within me that's ready to believe in life after death. And it's not the least bit interested in whether there's any sober evidence for it.
So I don't guffaw at the woman who visits her husband's grave and chats him up every now and then, maybe on the anniversary of his death. It's not hard to understand. And if I have difficulties with the ontological status of who she's talking to, that's all right. That's not what this is about. This is about humans being human.”

About 75,000 high school girls get raped by their male coaches each year. There’s less than 40 trans athletes competing at the high school level. Guess which problem these fucking idiots think is worse?

Until women can play sports without being overcome by males, the t shirts stay.

There was a point in time where this was the biggest threat to this country and many people, myself included, thought there was no way it could get worse. JFC!!!! Now look back

Besides being nakedly racist and bigoted, this is just hilariously wrong on all levels.
I mean, Omar Yaghi won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry last year, and he won the Wolf Prize in 2018. And that's just one example.
He also said Arabs don't produce any literature. Last year's winner of the National Book Award was Lebanese writer and painter Rabih Alameddine. The winner in non-fiction? Egyptian-American journalist Omar El Akkad.

Imagine if you stood up at work and said “You know who has one hell of a beautiful ass? It’s Carol from accounting. Stand up Carol! Show them your ass!”
You’d be fired within the hour but the president gets a pass because everyone has accepted the fact that he’s a scumbag.

They said Hillary was ahead in the polls.
They said Kamala was ahead in the polls.
I don’t give a fuck what the polls say right now. Get your ass out there and fucking vote.

So the problem here is that either Trump *thinks* MAGA voters are literally the dumbest people on Earth ... or they ARE the dumbest voters on Earth.
Anyone who doesn't know what "incumbent" means should only use velcro shoes have corks over all their forks.

In his new book (of course), Senator Thom Tillis says that top NC Republican leaders, as well as Governor Josh Stein, together told him directly that Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill" would cost North Carolina almost $2 billion per year, every year, for a decade, kick hundreds of thousands of people off their Medicaid plans, and cripple rural hospitals. Their concerns helped convince Tillis to oppose the "OBBB" (albeit at the last moment).
For opposing his bill, Trump destroyed Tillis's career and vowed to primary him. And those same NC Republican leaders now refuse any comment and say they fully support Trump.
