A Trump-administration suspension of foreign aid is affecting humanitarian programs, counterterrorism efforts and weapons financing. wsj.com/politics/national-se…
Ditto.
Hi @taylorswift13! Any chance your team can help Alsu and Miriam get tickets to an upcoming show?
(ps I saw your show in London in June, it was incredible!)

For months, we’ve marked how many days Evan Gershkovich was detained by Russia.
Today, something different @TimesRadio Breakfast:

Instead of @taylorswift13 on her birthday, daughter of journalist held in Russia gets even better gift — her mom.
Alsu Kurmasheva was freed Thursday in a landmark, multinational prisoner swap nearly one year after her family bought tickets for her daughter to see Swift's Eras Tour on Friday.

Thank you @NBCNews for your coverage of #Alsu's wrongful imprisonment and her glorious return.

I keep watching this back. The raw emotion of Evan Gershkovich being reunited with his mother. Such a beautiful moment to report on - at times when the news is full of darkness, these scenes bring light in… @evangershkovich #prisonerswap
True to his word. @gefairclough #IStandWithEvan
“Hang in there, we are doing all that we can...Your colleagues and friends around the world love and support you, and we’ll get you out as soon as we can.”

Minutes after stepping off the plane after being freed from more than a year in Russian prisons, Evan speaks up for Russian political prisoners:
Replying to @Andrew__Roth @WSJ
"There's one thing I would like to say. It was great to get on that bus today and see not just Americans and Germans but Russian political prisoners.” Evan on advocating for the hundreds of political prisoners left behind.
When I told my three year old Evan was free, first he asked “how did he escape?” Then he said “now he can see his mummy.”. Here’s the astonishing story of that astonishing mother who got her son back from Putin. #IStandWithEvan wsj.com/world/europe/evan-ge…

For months, Paul has spent countless hours working to secure Evan’s freedom. He’s been a fierce advocate for Evan—in public and in private. We’ve been so lucky to have a leader like Paul in our newsroom.
1: Smiles of joy, tears of relief: Evan Gershkovich and others held in Russia are on their way home. It has been 16 months of wrongful imprisonment for Evan. We celebrate with his wonderful family and all the families reunited today. #IStandWithEvan #WelcomeHomeEvan

Thank you so much for standing with Evan. Someone I met said they only knew about him because of your count. #EvanIsFree
Every day on our @TimesRadio Breakfast show, we counted the days in which Evan Gershkovich of the Wall Street Journal was wrongly imprisoned by the Russian state. We got to more than 490. So delighted that we will never have to say “500”. He is being freed today.

So many colleagues and organizations in the journalism world and beyond propelled Evan’s cause. Today they succeeded. Too many to mention by name but a million thanks to them all.

It’s very hard to sum up all that @paulwsj has done for Evan. He’s one of the real heroes behind the scenes. But what he’s done for the rest of us is allow us to confidently carry on with our jobs knowing that someone has our back, especially if things go wrong. Thank you
Evan Gershkovich is free tonight after nearly 500 days falsely accused by Russia. I keep thinking of the end of The Railway Children about another falsely accused man with a family. Here’s how it ends. #IStandWithEvan

How it started…first meeting with Paul @PressClubDC. He was born to this work. @WSJ had all the oars in the water, pulling to the count all the way across the line. Brought him home from a dark place. Great to see it!
