I'm seeing some misunderstanding the benefits debate as if it were workers v unemployed.
Roughly 40% of those who receive Universal Credit get them as in-work benefits to top up low incomes. Many others too have disabilities or mental health problems making work difficult.

Just seen the message from @OpenUniversity that Aug 1st is here and now the OU's Associate Lecturers are on permanent contracts - after 53 years of temporary employment. c. 4000 workers decasualised, a brilliant victory by @oubucu.

Not so much person of the year, but of the last three decades. Who knew that the Tories and British establishments biggest nightmare would not be a pompous vacillating bourgeois quisling of ‘the left’ but a cool, articulate working class guy? Bring us more Mick’s.

I don’t share this lightly but two years ago today this is how I said goodbye to my Mum. We stuck to the rules. Boris Johnson broke the rules he wrote. We aren’t moving on or forgetting. He’s got to go. But thank god for Julie x

I am delighted to say that I am now a Certified Member of the Association for Learning Technology, aka #cmalt. Thanks to everyone who has supported me on my CMALT journey since 2017, including @RMc_LT and @salomemaloney. I'll enjoy a beer in celebration this evening!
My amazing team @HeriotWattUni have won this prestigious ALT award! It was a pleasure being part of the team led by legends @Martha_Caddell and Rosemarie McIlwhan (@rightsnequality). Most importantly, it was humbling to support HWU staff, and their students, through this year.
Congratulations to the 'Supporting Student Learning Online Project Team' from Heriot-Watt University, who have won our Team Award in the Learning Technologist of the Year Awards 2020! #altc @HeriotWattUni

When I was a kid we got the polio vaccine. My dad, working on Mary Poppins, asked how my day was. I told him about the vaccine. “Didn’t it hurt? I said they put it on a sugar cube and you ate it. He called my uncle Dick and the next day they wrote “A Spoonful of Sugar.” (1 of 2)
I was lucky enough to be part of the great SSLO team in @HeriotWattUni that delivered online learning this year. The LTA led by @Martha_Caddell and @rightsnequality have been titans! Being finalists in the @A_L_T Team of the Year Award is justified affirmation of those efforts.
We are over the moon that @HeriotWattUni's Supporting Student Learning Online team are finalists in @A_L_T Team of the Year Award!
In a year when learning technologists across the globe have gone above & beyond to support the pandemic response, this is a remarkable achievement.

Agreed. I completed my PG Cert in Online and Distance Education and was hoping to finish the Masters at some point. A very enjoyable and innovative set of courses.

This is a great innovation from @HeriotWattUni . I look forward to seeing many more sustainable and colourful homes built with K-briqs in Scotland in future. :)
