Geopolitical Realignment: The Kremlin Considers Breaking with China and Pivoting Toward the United States
The Kremlin is reportedly considering a fundamental break with China, with discussions already underway about ending Russia’s strategic dependence on Beijing and gradually shifting toward the United States. The alleged trigger was an ultimatum from Xi Jinping concerning Russian natural resources in exchange for Chinese support for a peace agreement.
China reportedly demanded priority access to mineral deposits in Siberia and the Russian Far East, preferential prices for raw materials, and long-term guarantees for Chinese companies extending decades into the future. Beijing allegedly wants these arrangements finalized before the war in Ukraine ends, ensuring that the potential lifting of American sanctions would not allow Western capital to return to Russia and challenge China's position.
According to these claims, the Kremlin's leadership interpreted Beijing's demands as an attempt to exploit Moscow's weakness and permanently reduce Russia to a raw-material appendage of China.
Russian officials have reportedly begun examining an alternative scenario: rejecting Beijing's demands and accepting a potential American proposal for joint development of natural resources in exchange for investment, technology, and sanctions relief.
Trump is reportedly willing to discuss the return of American oil, gas, and mining companies to Russia once the war ends. Moscow hopes to exploit competition between Washington and Beijing to prevent either power from gaining exclusive control over its natural resources.
Russia's economic officials fear that a sudden confrontation with China would immediately disrupt imports, financial transactions, and energy exports. Nevertheless, according to the account, the Kremlin has already ordered preparations for a plan to reduce dependence on China if Beijing refuses to soften its demands.
The end of the war in Ukraine could therefore mark the beginning of Russia's most significant geopolitical realignment in decades.

Replying to @khanumarfa
If that were true @khanumarfa, why has the Muslim share of the population increased to 18-20%. Persecution always leads to a decline in population, not an increase.
Where’s the mass exodus to the 56 Muslim-majority countries?
Why don’t you see long queues outside their embassies and consulates?
And why aren’t they crossing the border and fleeing to neighboring East and West Pakistan?

Dacca wants Delhi to “accept the reality of the Monsoon Uprising in Bangladesh” - an externally funded/engineered regime change op that led to the death of B’desh (1971-2024) and resurrection of East Pakistan.
This exchange between India Today journalist Geeta Mohan and Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Riaz Hamidullah during the BRICS Roundtable sums up what we had written earlier - that India's Foreign Policy Establishment has failed to understand and accept the reality of the Monsoon Uprising in Bangladesh.
Instead of accepting the new reality of a post-Awami League and post-Uprising Bangladesh and recalibrating its foreign policy, India treated the Interim Government with contempt. Delhi appeared to look at the Uprising as a short-term, temporary event, its influence and impact limited to the Interim Government. The thinking among the foreign policy circles focused instead on the ‘future Elected Government’ of Bangladesh, hoping the BNP government would be the Awami League 2.0.
The expectations were placed on Tareque Rahman to ‘restore the balance’, undo the Interim Government and continue like the Monsoon Uprising never happened. The stenographers were now busy with Op-Eds, directed at the Bangladeshi PM, to reconcile with the Awami League, bring them back into the political realm and make their mildly inconvenient legacy of mass murder, torture, stolen elections and repression go away.
One month turned into two and before we knew it, six months had passed and little seemed to have changed in terms of expectations. A convicted mass murderer was given a platform and a megaphone to spew venom, at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club, at the heart of the Indian capital. When Bangladesh responded with ‘outrage’, India responded, unconvincingly, with ‘shock’.
The question asked by Geeta Mohan completely ignores the fact that the one person her State is hosting is a convicted mass murderer. The answer by Riaz Hamidullah expressed the firm resolve of the Post Uprising Bangladesh - that normalization of fascist dictator Sheikh Hasina is not acceptable to Bangladesh. India today is caught in a quagmire of its own delusions.

Vandalism of religious sites was unheard of in Japan until very recently. This comes after a series of unexplained fires at shrines and temples.

China’s strategy is to get there first, pursuing a modern forward strategy, gaining control over physical and virtual chokepoints, and seizing advantage in the ports, supply chains, resources, technologies, and standards that will define the next era of competition.

Commies and jihadis take full advantage of the freedoms granted by open societies to subvert and undermine them under the guise of protecting and defending democracy. They invoke the language of equality, justice and democratic rights while pursuing policies and establishing systems that suppress dissent, restrict individual liberties and impose total ideological conformity. There’s nothing “democratic” or “liberal” about the Red-Green alliance. Their’s 💯% a Fascistic, Supremacist and destructive ideology that seeks to subjugate and destroy other cultures and nations.
“Dear Italian students, who today take to the streets carrying flags with the hammer and sickle and wearing T-shirts emblazoned with ‘CCCP’,” began an open letter in Italian by Lithuanian expat Neringa Budryt.
“I would like to ask you a question: do you truly know what the symbols you carry represent? And do you know what would have happened to many of you had you openly demonstrated in countries living under the oppression of communist regimes?
Let me tell you something. It is easy to display a red flag when, for you, communism is merely an abstract idea of equality, social justice, and rebellion against the system. It is easy to wear a T-shirt with "CCCP" on it when you have never experienced the reality of a communist regime.
We come from that part of Europe where communism was not a T-shirt, a symbol of rebellion, or a romanticized notion of equality. It was the system in which we lived—a system we never chose.
We know the history of Soviet repression, Stalinist purges, the Gulags, and mass deportations. Above all, we know the word "Siberia"—a place to which thousands of innocent people were forcibly deported, simply for thinking differently.
In Siberia—amidst freezing cold, starvation, and forced labor—many lost their lives; those who survived carried the scars of that experience forever. Entire families were torn apart, and generations were denied the chance to live freely in their own homeland.
In the countries of the Soviet bloc, censorship, political police, surveillance, and the suppression of dissent drastically curtailed individual freedoms.
We grew up in a system where state control permeated even our daily lives. At school, we were required to wear the red necktie of the "Pioneers." We were monitored; they tracked where we went and even whether we attended church. Even faith—a choice that should belong to an individual’s own conscience—could become a cause for suspicion.
We used to celebrate Christmas with our windows blacked out, to ensure no one would see us and report us. Because it was forbidden—just like so many other things: jeans, rock music, and all the symbols of a Western lifestyle. My mother returned from a Soviet labor camp. And do you know what happened to her? She was barred from continuing her education because she had been labeled an enemy of communism.
Under a communist regime, you could not protest. You risked arrest, imprisonment, interrogation, persecution—and, in certain historical contexts, even death. In the Soviet Union and other communist regimes, political dissent could cost you your freedom and your life.
Demonstrations independent of the authorities were not a guaranteed right; they were often suppressed by force.
That is why it strikes me to see young Italians proudly displaying the hammer and sickle—symbols associated with regimes that persecuted and imprisoned millions of people.
Today, you are free to take to the streets, shout against the government, criticize institutions, and wave your flags precisely because you live in a democracy that grants you these freedoms. Under an authoritarian regime of that kind, protesting against those in power could have landed you in prison.
This is not about denying the existence of social injustices, inequalities, or the right to fight for a better world. You are free to take to the streets to demand a more just society—but you should not idealize a system that denied so many people the very things you are free to exercise today: the right to choose, to believe, to speak, and to dissent. Before wearing a T-shirt with "CCCP" on it, listen to those who experienced that world. Talk to the deportees and their descendants; read the accounts of those who endured the gulags and forced exile to Siberia. Learn what it meant to be stripped of your freedom, your home, your loved ones—and even any prospect of a normal life—simply because of your background or your beliefs.
Before waving the hammer and sickle, please, study history thoroughly.”

Referring to the historic and contentious ‘Seventeen-Point Agreement’ that was signed between China and Tibet in 1951, the former Indian envoy to Beijing said, “By signing a separate 17-point agreement with Tibet – something that it (China) didn’t do with anybody else, the PRC tacitly accepted and recognised that Tibet was different and that it ‘had been independent and actually free of Chinese control’.”
