Mercy matters, but we cannot stop at relief. I want the kind of love that asks what we can build together so the wound stops reopening.

What if I open the door to grief and cannot close it?
You do not have to close grief like a perfectly sealed door. The goal is to remain connected to yourself, the present, and your choices while you approach what is true.

No politician is coming to save us, but our choices still shape who gets food, housing, care, and room to breathe. Discernment matters.

You do not have to become fearless about grief.
You can still dislike it.
You can resist it, need breaks, feel angry that this is part of your life, and wish the loss had never happened.

That relationship can include boundaries.
It can include “not today.”
It can include professional help.
It can include joy, distraction, work, play, and ordinary life alongside grief.

Salvation is not escape from the world. If love is real, it has to take history seriously and move toward liberation here, not somewhere else.

Build a tiny grief plan before the next wave arrives.
In a grief wave, it can be difficult to remember what helps, whom to call, or what is true.
So write down three things now:

Put the plan somewhere easy to find: your phone notes, wallet, refrigerator, journal, or bedside table.
Preparation is not pessimism. It is care for the version of you who may not be able to invent support in the middle of the wave.
We often say that time heals.
Time can create distance. It can change context. It can allow the nervous system to settle and life to grow around a loss.
But time is not a grief practice by itself.

Try adding one act of care to the time already passing:
- Five minutes of writing.
- A walk with the person’s name spoken aloud.
- A text asking someone to listen.
- A candle at dinner.
- A boundary around an anniversary.
- An appointment with qualified support.
