An 83 year old woman in Thorntonhall was held at gunpoint in her own home by a man the Home Office already knew was an overstayer.
Chirag Solanki, 27, was on an expired student visa, had a missing marker placed on him, and was listed as wanted.
On 6 July 2024 he broke into the couple’s home armed with a BB gun and knife while they were having lunch.
He has now pled guilty to abduction, assault and related charges.
He told police he had lost his job and was looking for money.
He was only caught after a 999 call and a police helicopter search.

BREAKING: A Bulgarian man who assaulted a 12-year-old girl in Dundee, in an incident that led to a viral video of a child with an axe and a knife, has avoided prison.
