Partly Cloudy: The Start of a Journey into the Cloud. Intro to blog post series about our cloud work. @TwitterEng blog.twitter.com/engineering…
Lightest e-mail week ever during #OneTeam Need to find way to sustain that trend somehow.
The best thing about winter solstice is that the day-light/night-time ratio is going to increase for the next six months (in the northern hemisphere, sorry southern hemisphere).
OH: we'll tackle that problem next decade (meaning next year, meaning in a couple of weeks). If you think a decade should start January 1st 2021, don't hate me. We'll talk about that next decade...
Adding final ingredient to my, now traditional, contribution to Thanksgiving meal. Have much to be thankful for, including being alive to enjoy this.
In 1991 knowing how to use the HTML <blink> tag was cool. Had you asked me ten years later what would be state of the art in another couple of decades in 2019/2020, I would not have predicted emoji's. Hope for flying cars..., but emoji's? Nope, didn't see that coming.
Lesson 5. Not all metros stop at all stops in Tokyo. L6: maps on many street corners not oriented to north (but do have arrow). L7: docomo doesn’t give me roaming data. L8 Chou City has public WiFi. Twitter Tokyo office, I’ll find you!
L9: Twitter office apparently moved. l10 people here obey rules (traffic lights, no-walking on the lawn signs etc). L11 I thought I was all cool to start recognizing metro stop names in Japanese, but turns out they are numbered. E20 to E28 is 8 stops on line E. Exits also #’rd
L12: in Japan cars drive on the left. On escalators stand on left and walk on right. L13: distances are marked in meters. L14: walls in metro aren’t water proof. Water seeps out into small gutters along the side of walls. L15: seen only a single homeless person on street so far.
We need to do better at this. Intent is less important than negative effect. Please call me out right away if/when I do this.
A few months ago, I asked people of color to share their experiences being misidentified by their white coworkers. We got hundreds of replies. washingtonpost.com/nation/20…

Nowadays my social security number gets regularly suspended. This is rather boring compared to wining lottery, getting Western Union refunds from Nigeria, or inheriting gold mines from a long-lost uncle.
