Glastonbury Tor - Avalon mist.
Here is yet another image from May 2024. The Tor rose above a sea of fog while light poured through the old arch, casting long shadows down the hill. For a few quiet minutes it felt half in this world, half in the other.

Glastonbury Tor at Sunrise - View Over Glastonbury
For this third view from last Monday, this is from a slightly different viewpoint.
The second image is a zoomed-in view across Glastonbury, with Wearyall Hill to the left and the towers of St John the Baptist Church and St Benedict's Church rising above the rooftops, backed by the sweeping landscape of the Somerset Levels and surrounded by the rich autumn colours of the trees.
Best viewed full-screen in 4K to appreciate all the detail

Following on from yesterday's post, here's a wider panorama showing the full scene as the sun rose behind Glastonbury Tor.

Glastonbury Tor at Sunrise
Taken this morning as dawn's gentle light illuminated the countryside beneath Glastonbury Tor. Autumn is beginning to reach its peak, with vibrant golds and warm tones scattered across the landscape.
The second image offers a closer look at the scene, where a horse grazes peacefully among the golden trees, one of many small details that bring the landscape to life.
Glastonbury Tor • May 2024
There are mornings when the landscape seems to forget the rules of the ordinary world.
Wrapped in drifting cloud and illuminated by the first light of day, the Tor emerged from the mist as though it had stepped from an older story, one whispered across centuries.
Moments like these never last long, which is perhaps what makes them so special.
Misty Glastonbury Tor - July 2024
You’ve seen the misty Glastonbury Tor photos I’ve shared over the last few days, so here’s a video version I filmed back in July 2024. This was back in the days when the Tor wasn’t as popular as it is nowadays, when the early mornings still held that quiet, ancient stillness the place is known for.
That particular day it was just me and a few special friends… you may even recognise one of them🙂she’s up there most days, taking pictures✨
The atmosphere was something else… the kind of moment where the Tor feels alive, and seeing it in motion really brings that feeling back to life.

Glastonbury Tor
Another misty moment from back in May 2024, the kind of morning people always seem drawn to, when the landscape softens and Avalon feels close.
As the sun lifted, it formed an eye in the sky, watching over the Tor while two beams of light filtered through the crown of the tower. For a moment it felt as though the hill wasn’t just meeting the dawn, but welcoming it, stone and sunlight sharing a quiet exchange through the mist🙂

Glastonbury Tor
Going back to 23rd July, a soft mist drifting over the Somerset Levels, captured from the drone’s zoomed‑in perspective, making Glastonbury Tor feel almost within reach.
Most people love these misty views, and this is one of my favourites.

Last one from last Friday’s sunrise at Glastonbury Tor. Slightly different angle.
Wide view across the fields towards the Tor, first autumn colour in the trees, and St Michael’s Tower under a soft pink sky.

Last Friday morning at Glastonbury Tor, same sunrise, another angle. The colours were incredible, especially the autumn tones coming through in the trees.

Glastonbury Tor
Taken yesterday at 07:36, this second image shows autumn slowly painting the landscape with its warm palette. The sunrise draped everything in a golden glow, highlighting the rolling fields, the hilltop tower, and the quiet charm of the countryside. A perfect reminder of how stunning this season can be.

Just after sunrise this morning (07:49) at Glastonbury Tor.
Autumn colours are really starting to show across the landscape, soft golds, warm oranges, and rich greens in the trees and hedgerows, with the fields still holding that fresh early light. St Michael’s Tower sits quietly on the hill under a sky washed in pink and lavender.
A lovely start to the day in Somerset. 🍂

Glastonbury Tor at Sunrise
While sorting through old pictures from May 2024, this one surfaced. Glastonbury Tor rising through a drifting sea of mist, the path winding upward as though still leading somewhere beyond the visible world.
In those moments the old stories feel less like memory and more like presence: the quiet threshold, the place where ordinary light thins. Some landscapes keep their own time. This one remembered.

Glastonbury Tor - Saturday’s sunrise
One of my favourite views: the path heading towards the Tor, the fields, and the light only just starting to colour the countryside.
Autumn is beginning to turn in the trees.
Taken yesterday at 07:18.

Glastonbury Tor at sunset - the sky doing the talking.
A panoramic from last night, taken about ten minutes after my previous post, when almost the whole sky caught fire.

Glastonbury Tor this evening, a minute before sunset. Taken at 18:45, with the sun setting at 18:46.
St Michael’s Tower stands on the summit as the sky turns gold, the last of the light still on the Tor and the fields below already cooling into dusk.

Glastonbury Tor – Morning Mist, Part 5
A quieter close to the series that began on Monday 28th September. This fifth and final post is an interactive 360° view from the River Brue on the Somerset Levels, looking across toward Glastonbury, the Tor, and the land behind.
Open it and turn in any direction.

Glastonbury Tor – Morning Mist, Part 4
One more view from the 28th: the River Brue winding through the Somerset Levels while the cattle graze in the stillness, the Tor sitting quietly behind the haze. Just the landscape wearing its morning weather.
The second picture is a zoomed‑in view from the first.
