As an election staffer who works with overseas voters, the Pope was wise not to trust the Italian mail system. I have more trouble with Italys mail than all the other countries combined.
NEW: Pope Leo XIV is set to become the first sitting pontiff in the Catholic Church’s two-thousand-year history to vote in a secular election.
Leo requested an Illinois mail ballot on Oct. 3, and it was sent to his brother John’s home in New Lenox, Ill.
John Prevost visited the pope at the Vatican on Wednesday and may now be carrying the ballot back to the Will County clerk by hand. thelettersfromleo.com/p/pope…

More people need to recognize Kareem’s tenure with the Bucks. Won three MVPs and a championship in Milwaukee and everyone acts like he just went straight from UCLA to the Lakers.
Remember: We used to start voting in Iowa today. The ballots are ready & our overseas voters already have them, as required by federal law.
Most of the voters have their minds made up & are ready to go.
But we have to wait, because Iowa Republicans took away 20 days of voting.
The name of the vote no group is bitterly ironic. Because, yes, Johnson County deserves better.

Two fond hopes I have had.
I wanted to retire as a union member. That hope has now come true.
Now, before I die, I want to vote in an Iowa presidential primary.

Okay, I'll explain horseshoe theory for the peanut gallery.
The idea was first written down by French philosopher Jean-Pierre Faye in the 60s or 70s, and is based on his studies of totalitarian regimes like Nazi Germany and Soviet communism. The theory posits that rather than existing on a straight, two-dimensional, linear spectrum from left to right, the political spectrum is actually bent like a horseshoe where the two extreme ends closely resemble one another.
The textbook example is the rise of Hitler. During the final years of the Weimar Republic, the Communist Party (KPD) focused its political attacks on the moderate, center-left Social Democratic Party (SPD). The KPD labeled the socialists "social fascists" and said that moderate democracy was merely a disguised form of capitalism that stood in the way of a communist revolution. This namecalling fragmented and paralyzed the left, allowing the rise of the Nazi Party, as the KPD refused to directly attack Adolf Hitler.
Rather, the KPD believed that a Nazi government would quickly collapse and pave the way for their communist uprising. Like leftists today, they even had a slogan for it: "After Hitler, our turn." The KPD thus focused all of its attention on criticizing the establishment status-quo and destabilizing democratic institutions, even partnering with the Nazis, like in the 1932 Berlin transport strike.
Outside of their tactics, however, the KPD also shared with the Nazis many substantive agreements. They both had a fierce, fundamental hatred of liberal democracy, parliamentary compromise, and pluralism. They were hell-bent on completely dismantling and replacing the democratic center, which led them to employ similar totalitarian tactics as Nazis such as political violence and short-term cooperation with the far right, especially when the Nazis were focused on attacking the SPD.
In this way, the opposing ideological extremes worked together to destroy the political middle and established democracy of the Weimar Republic, fragmenting the left and blocking compromise, thus allowing Hitler to rise to power almost unopposed as the weakened and divided left fell one by one.
Sound familiar? It should.

So it appears Lake Ontario is named as such in the Treaty of Canandaigua, signed by President George Washington and ratified by Congress in 1795.

James Carville: “What AIPAC doesn’t understand is a lot of people and a lot of Democrats can’t stand the current government of Israel and you can spend all the fucking money you want telling me they’re good and I’m not gonna ever believe it. The people that say that people that disagree with the policies of the government of Israel are antisemites are frankly full of shit and they need to be told that. You can’t have the kind of policies the government of Israel is engaged in and not expect that there’s gonna be pushback and backlash”

You can't put words in Dolly's mouth - she was gifted with her own words & she famously avoided politics.
But when Warren used 9 To 5 as her theme song, Dolly could have objected privately, & her credibility was so great that it would have been dropped. No sign that happened.
