Jimmy Carter never got a second term. Voters looked at the gas prices, the weakness abroad, and the economic mismanagement and decided four years was enough. With a midterm two weeks away, Republicans are about to learn whether voters feel the same way now. If Carter had gotten four more years, it is hard to see how those four years would have looked much different from these, except even Jimmy Carter knew the Russians were the bad guys.
