I’m tired of the mental health misinformation and pseudoscience that pervades healthcare, pop culture, social media, and the wellness industry. So I wrote a book about it. And it’s now available to pre-order. šŸ˜ŠāœŒļø JonathanStea.com

In cancer care, use of alternative medicine is associated with increased death. In this study, greater conspiracy mentality and lower science literacy skills are linked to believing that cures for cancer are being suppressed: semanticscholar.org/paper/Th…

And further, he who holds the poison also holds the cure The cure for cancer has been known for decades, but of course we can’t let that cat out of the bag and lose our billions in ā€œcancerā€ research now can we? Absolutely pathetic

Remember when we learned that our wealthiest and most powerful people were connected to a guy who ran a literal child sex trafficking ring? And then that guy died mysteriously in a jail? And now we just don't talk about it.

You call yourself a ā€œProud Christianā€ and then accuse strangers of lying for money without a shred of evidence. There is actually a commandment about that. ā€œYou shall not bear false witness.ā€ You supplied no lie, no payment, no evidence — only an accusation. Perhaps before diagnosing everyone else’s morality, read the part of the book that applies to yours.

Calley Means has quit his role as adviser to the Trump administration and RFK Jr He is an unqualified "Wellness" crank who had no business being anywhere near health policy
EXCLUSIVE - Top RFK Jr. ally and adviser Calley Means has quit the Trump administration. Means was frustrated by White House delays of some of Kennedy’s popular food policies and blamed others in the administration for allowing food companies and special interests to have too much sway, people familiar with the matter said. One of them described him as ā€œdisillusioned.ā€ wsj.com/politics/policy/call…

In my online experience climate science deniers, antivaxxers and racists are largely the same people. As Jonathan Stea says the roots of these ideologies are pseudoscience and conspiracy thinking.

Interesting how those of us who have been calling out bigotry and slurs (and the comfy apologism that accompanies such attitudes) are being scolded for doing so by self-claimed ā€˜free speech’ defenders, even some MHPs.
It’s no coincidence that anti-science movements share the same space as hate groups because their ideological underpinnings are predicated on conspiracy mentality.

ā€œIt is always the secure who are humble.ā€ — G.K. Chesterton
I once asked Daniel Kahneman (Nobel Prize recipient) to be involved in a book I was co-editing. Though qualified, he so very kindly declined, citing his lack of expertise. When I contrast his humility with the daily death of expertise on social media, I die a little inside.
